Congratulations to Board of Education Vice President Dr. Melissa Moreno for being named a 2026 Capital Region Individual Artist Fellowship recipient in the Emerging Tier for Socially Engaged Arts, recognizing more than a decade of community-driven work documenting and sharing the histories of Yolo County.

The Capital Region Individual Artist Fellowship (IAF), administered by Teatro Nagual, Inc, in partnership with the California Arts Council, celebrate and support artists across disciplines who are shaping culture in the counties of Alpine, El Dorado, Sacramento, Solano and Yolo. We are proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition of her creativity, scholarship, and commitment to community. 👏

This weekend! Join First 5 Yolo and Welcome Baby Program for a free Family Resource Fair in Woodland from 9 am-noon. FREE resources and activities for the entire family. No registration needed.

Join us in Woodland for Welcome Baby: Road to Resilience. A family resource fair where you can discover valuable resources, enjoy fun crafts and activities, meet other families, and have fun. The first 80 attendees will receive a free taco meal.

When: Saturday, September 12, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

On Friday, October 16, join us and Woodland Community College as we host a FREE, half-day financial aid workshop in Woodland with the California Student Aid Commission. The workshop equips counselors, advocates, and community partners with up-to-date information to better support students in applying for and securing financial aid for college.

Join us for the 2026–2027 CSAC Annual Statewide Financial Aid Workshop at Woodland Community College. This FREE training will cover important updates to the upcoming financial aid cycle, including new changes to the FAFSA and California Dream Act Application.

The Yolo County School Boards Association is hosting a community forum featuring law enforcement leaders from across Yolo County to discuss the status of potential immigration concerns and provide information about the California Values Act (SB 54). Register at bit.ly/YoloForum26.

The forum will feature representatives from the Yolo County District Attorney, Yolo County Sheriff's Office, City of Davis Police Department, West Sacramento Police Department, Winters Police Department, Woodland Police Department and the UC Davis Police Department.

Hate-Free Together is seeking community input on its name and visual identity.

The regional partnership brings together Yolo County, UC Davis, Davis City, Davis Joint Unified School District and the Yolo County Office of Education to support a community where people feel safe, respected and welcome.

As the initiative has grown, its Executive Committee is asking community members to share feedback on the current name and logo and offer ideas for the future.

The survey is open through 5 p.m. Friday, September 25.

We had a great turnout at our Entrepreneurship Makerspace Boot Camp Info Night & Drop-In Registration with Woodland Public Library and Sacramento Valley SBDC! 🚀
