Please help congratulate the students from the Culinary Pathway for their participation in the recent SkillsUSA Region 4 Leadership and Skills Conference. These students since early January have completed their contest and some have been awarded the opportunity to participate and advance to the state conference and competition in mid-April!

Once again I am extremely proud of their effort regardless of whether they advanced and wish the state qualifiers luck at state conference and competition in April!

Pioneer High School Culinary headed to SoCal on April 10-13 for SkillsUSA State Conference! Very proud of this group of kids that went for the competition experience and got a food experience they aren't used too. Baking and Pastry was a valiant effort and Culinary Arts saw us take SILVER 🥈!

Please help congratulate the students from my Culinary Pathway and Mr. Baynes Programming Pathway for their participation in the recent SkillsUSA Region 4 Leadership and Skills Conference. These students since early January have completed their contest and some have been awarded the opportunity to participate and advance to the state conference and competition in mid-April after spring break.

Once again we are extremely proud of their effort regardless of whether they advanced and wish the state qualifiers luck at state conference and competition in April!

Dear parents and students:

I have been with the Woodland Joint Unified School District full-time since 1995, serving in multiple capacities and teaching at Lee Jr High (now Lee Middle School) and being part of the Pioneer High School opening faculty. In that time I have built multiple programs and served tens of thousands of students.

I have accepted a position with the Franchise Tax Board as an IT Specialist II, serving as team lead in their new Enterprise IT Training Division. I will be developing coursework and curriculum to train the 1600 IT workers within the Franchise Tax Board and, eventually, throughout the State of California government. The position begins on February 10. As a result, my last day with Pioneer High School will be Friday, February 7, 2025.

I have enjoyed working with the students of the Woodland Joint Unified School District immensely, and will miss that interaction. I will further miss the collaboration with my colleagues here at PHS and at the other schools. I can assure you, it was not an easy decision, but it was the right one for me.

If you have any questions about the transition, I can be reached at my Woodland Joint Unified School District email through February 7. After that, please direct any questions to the PHS principal; they are ready and able to answer your questions. For any SkillsUSA related questions, please contact Mr. Morse. He will have all of the answers you need and be ready to answer your needs.

It has been a pleasure working with you, and I wish you well. Go Patriots!

-David Bayne
