On this 25th anniversary of September 11th, we pause to honor, reflect, and Never Forget.

Today is a National Day of Remembrance and Service. We reflect on the brave first responders, the lives lost, and the generation of everyday heroes who helped rebuild and shape our communities.

That spirit of unity and service lives on right here in Yolo County. Today, Meals on Wheels’ 424 active volunteers step up to serve those who gave so much to build our local community—our aging senior neighbors. By delivering nutritious meals and genuine friendship, our volunteers ensure every senior can EAT: Eat, Age, and Thrive.

Today and every day, we remember, we honor our seniors for their lifelong contributions, and we thank our volunteers for answering the call to serve.

We are proud to recognize Cindy Obry as our 2026 Philanthropy Awards honoree!
A retired Navy veteran who has called Yolo County home for over 20 years, Cindy dedicates hours every single week to supporting local seniors. She has logged over 350 volunteer hours as a delivery driver, greeter, Café Yolo host, and ride-along trainer. 🇺🇸✨

Cindy is photographed with meal recipient Venetter H. from West Sacramento. Cindy and Venetter have built a special bond and look forward to checking in with each other at each delivery!

Cindy never shows up without a warm smile for residents and a treat for their dogs. She brings so much joy and light to our homebound neighbors on the days when they need it most. Thank you, Cindy, for continuing to serve our community with so much love and dedication. We’re so lucky to have you!

“It is a service that I really enjoy. Also, it's a chance for me to serve the community and make up for the fact that I didn’t do [Meals on Wheels] for my own parents.” - Dan P., Woodland Home Delivered Meals Volunteer

Dan delivers nutritious meals directly to the doors of our homebound seniors in Woodland. He is providing them with food for the week while also building meaningful relationships and ensuring that our aging neighbors EAT: Eat, Age, Thrive. 💙💚

It is National Dog Day 🐾 While we spoil our pups today, a heartbreaking reality exists: over 1 in 5 seniors in America skip meals to feed their beloved pets.

No senior should have to choose between their nourishment and their best friend's. Meals on Wheels Yolo County’s MOW PAWS program is here for seniors like Alice, a widowed retired school teacher, and her faithful companion dog, Frankie. They receive nutritious meals delivered right to their door in Winters. Alice is endlessly grateful for MOW Yolo staff like Kathy T., who care for her and her fur babies.

Will you join us in celebrating with a gift to Meals on Wheels Yolo County? It is the perfect way to honor your dog today. Donate to ensure our seniors, like Alice, and their pets, like Frankie, can EAT: Eat, Age, and Thrive side-by-side. 💙🐶💚 www.mowyolo.org/donate-2/

🧊 ❄️ Keeping it cool for Yolo County seniors! 🧊 ❄️

In 2024, when vandals cut power to our meal production facility over a holiday weekend. One power outage = weeks' worth of meals for our aging neighbors, GONE.

Thanks to a $5,000 grant from Teichert Foundation, a new 24/7 cellular temperature monitoring system will alert the Meals on Wheels Yolo County team the moment cold storage temperatures drop — protecting the 5,000+ meals produced weekly in our Winters Meal Production facility, ensuring they stay cool and fresh before being safely delivered to vulnerable seniors in every corner of Yolo County.

Because every senior deserves to EAT: Eat, Age, Thrive.

THANK YOU, TEICHERT FOUNDATION!
