Hi Friends and Neighbors,

With the airwaves and mailboxes dominated by statewide and national elections, and with door-to-door campaigning and neighborhood gatherings reduced, it's harder to find out about our local candidates running for the Woodland city council and the Woodland school board. Even the local League of Women Voters organization has chosen not to hold any candidates forums this year.

A group of local residents, calling themselves Know Your Candidates of Woodland, has put together two separate live online candidates forums for this Sunday. All candidates, regardless of which district they are running in, have been invited. The forums will focus on local issues.

You are encouraged to register and attend. Please forward the information on to others you know in Woodland or just copy and paste the information from my email.

Sunday, October 18

10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Woodland Joint Unified School District forum - Register at www.eventbrite.com/e/woodland-joint-unified-school-district-candidates-forum-tickets-124356639055

2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. - Woodland City Council forum - Register at www.eventbrite.com/e/woodland-city-council-candidates-forum-tickets-124353748409

Both forums are free and open to the public, but attendees must pre-register using the links above. Prior to each forum, those who have registered will be sent information about each candidate and the Zoom link to the forum. Those viewing the forums will be able to submit questions to be asked of the candidates. A video recording of the event will be posted afterward.

Questions about the forums can be directed to [email protected] or to their page at www.facebook.com/KYCWoodlandCA.

Please remember to vote.

Woodland Candidates Forums on October 18

The Know Your Candidates of Woodland group will be hosting two virtual local candidate forums on Sunday, October 18. The forum for candidates running for the Woodland Joint Unified School District Board will run from 10 A.M. to noon. The forum for Woodland City Council candidates will run from 2 P.M. to 4 P.M.

Many local candidates are limiting their door-to-door and group meeting activities this year to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. Also, the League of Women Voters of Woodland decided not to conduct live forums of local candidates this year. As a result, Know Your Candidates of Woodland was formed to give all local candidates the opportunity to present themselves to Woodland voters and to address local issues. The purpose of these candidate forums is to allow the voters of Woodland to see, hear, and learn more about the candidates running for local offices in the November 3 election. The forums will focus on local issues to help voters decide who they will vote for.

Both forums are free and open to the public, but attendees must pre-register using these links. Questions about the forums can be directed to [email protected].

Thank you to the Yolo Committee for Diverse and Inclusive Elections (YCDIE) for sharing their forum templates and their willingness to help in organizing our Know Your Candidates for Woodland forums. We could not have done it without them. (credit: YCDIE).
