☀️ HEAT ADVISORY SAFETY MESSAGE ☀️

The Woodland Volunteer Fire Department would like to remind everyone to take extra precautions during the current heat advisory. High temperatures and humidity can quickly lead to heat-related illnesses.

Heat Safety Tips: ✅ Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.
✅ Limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
✅ Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
✅ Take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.
✅ Never leave children, adults, or pets unattended in a vehicle.
✅ Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and those with medical conditions.

🔥 Outdoor Burning Warning 🔥

With the combination of extremely hot temperatures, dry conditions, and low moisture levels, any outdoor fire can spread rapidly and become difficult to control. Please use extreme caution when burning outdoors and closely monitor any authorized burns.
Even a small fire can quickly grow into a dangerous situation, threatening homes, property, and lives. These conditions also place our firefighters in hazardous environments as they work to contain and extinguish fires in extreme heat.
We ask everyone to do their part to prevent wildfires and brush fires by: • Avoiding unnecessary outdoor burning.
• Never leaving a fire unattended.
• Properly extinguishing all fire pits, grills, and burn piles.
• Disposing of ci******es responsibly.
Your safety is our priority. Please stay cool, stay hydrated, and help us keep our community safe.

Last night, members of Woodland Volunteer Fire Department conducted training at the Woodland Olney Apartments to enhance our preparedness and response capabilities.

During the training, personnel reviewed the department's current fire pre-plan for the facility, identified the locations of electrical disconnects, discussed elevator operations, and reviewed procedures for safely and effectively conducting an elevator rescue should the need arise.

With the recent increase in brush fires due to dry conditions across our area, firefighters also spent time training on brush unit pump operations and reviewing safe and effective tactics when responding to and operating at brush fire incidents.

Training is an essential part of ensuring our members remain prepared to protect the citizens and visitors of our community.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness gave us the freedoms we enjoy each and every day.

On this Memorial Day, Woodland Volunteer Fire Department asks everyone to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of this day and remember the heroes who never made it home.

We are forever grateful to those who gave all for our nation. May God bless the families of our fallen soldiers and continue to bless the United States of America.

🇺🇸 Never Forgotten. Always Honored. 🇺🇸

🚒 Training Night at Woodland Volunteer Fire Department 🚒

On training night, our firefighters conducted water supply and pump training utilizing our engine and tanker operations. Crews practiced drafting water with our engine from a portable drop tank while our tanker supplied water through quick water shuttle operations.
Each shuttle delivered and dropped approximately 3,000 gallons of water, helping keep our engine supplied with enough water to continuously flow high volumes of water during operations.
Our firefighters done a great job and had a lot of fun training while continuing to sharpen their skills. Training like this helps ensure we stay prepared and ready to answer the call whenever our community needs us.

Great work by everyone involved! 💪🔥
