The Woodland Park RE-2 Board of Education has approved the addition of an Air Force Junior ROTC (AFJROTC) program beginning in Fall 2026.

AFJROTC is an accredited, credit-bearing academic program offered during the regular school day that focuses on leadership, citizenship, character development, financial literacy, college and career readiness, and STEM opportunities. Participation is open to students, including homeschool/part-time students, in grades 8-12 and carries no obligation to join the military.

The program supports our mission of preparing responsible, capable citizens while expanding opportunities for students to explore future career and educational pathways.

IMPORTANT COMMUNITY UPDATE ON ATHLETICS AND ACTIVITIES

Last Friday, our administrative team shared an important message with families regarding athletics, activities, and program funding for the upcoming school year.

Because this topic has generated questions and discussion throughout our community, we are also sharing this message on our website and social media to ensure all stakeholders have access to the same accurate information.

Key highlights include:
• All programs that operated during the 2025-26 school year will continue next year.
• Students remain our priority.
• Athletics and activities continue to be a critical part of student success, connection, and school culture.

• District leadership is developing a coordinated and equitable fundraising plan to support program sustainability.
• The focus is on maintaining and strengthening opportunities for students, not reducing them.
• Additional efforts to secure funding through grants, community partnerships, and other initiatives are ongoing.

🦅 On Wings of Eagles Honoree Spotlight 🦅

We are proud to recognize Marci Nickelsburg — director of the Jr. Panther Players and Woodland Park Jr./Sr. High School's after school theater program — as our newest On Wings of Eagles recipient!

Marci has given students from across the district the stage, the confidence, and the courage to soar. Under her direction, three Woodland Park students have earned the opportunity to compete at the prestigious Bobby G Awards — with one winning the competition.

Thank you, Marci, for helping our students find their voice, own the spotlight, and dream bigger than they ever thought possible. 🎭✨

Our Class of 2026 seniors took their elementary tour this morning, and even with Summit closed today due to a power outage, we still had our biggest turnout yet since this tradition began in 2023!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make today possible, and special recognition to Principal Rexford, Mrs. Barnes, and Mrs. Roynon for showing up to support our Summit alumni. The love and encouragement shown to these seniors was incredible to see.

Congratulations, Class of 2026 — your Panther family is proud of you! 🐾

WPSD will be on a 2-hour delay today May 20, due to overnight snow accumulation. No AM Preschool. Jr./Sr. High School students will receive an advisory assignment to complete during the 2-hour delay. Columbine and Summit students should complete the 2-hour delay Google Form that the principals will send.

Please plan to report there directly on the day of the event. If you have not signed up yet, please select a slot at the Jr./Sr. High School, as we have purposely filled the other schools' slots to avoid further confusion. Thank you!

On May 20th at 10:45 AM, please meet us on the Panther Patio at the Jr./Sr. High School to welcome and greet our seniors as they return from their elementary school tours. This is a special moment as students reconnect with the people who helped shape their journey—from elementary beginnings to high school graduation.

Whether you supported them in the classroom, on the field, or behind the scenes, we would love to have you there to help celebrate how far they’ve come.
