Monday’s school board meeting was bittersweet. We said a grateful goodbye to Directors Jacqueline McGourty and Amy Cast, whose service has been so impactful in our district and across our state. Alongside Sandy Hayes, Carson Sanderson and I were sworn in as the newest board members of NSD. I feel humbled and honored to step into the 5th seat, knowing the legacy and responsibility it carries.

I’m grateful for our community’s trust and excited to serve alongside (left to right) Directors Trân, Hayes, Sanderson, and Sotak, and Superintendent Irish. I look forward to learning from them, contributing my perspective as a veteran teacher and working parent, and collaborating to ensure every student, family, and educator feels seen, supported and successful.

It’s cleanup time. Our goal is to have all the signs collected by Tuesday, November 11. I’ve got a tiny but mighty team helping through the weekend, but if you spot a sign or want to help out, just send me a message!

I’ll be keeping signs/metal stakes that are in good condition for now. It’s better for the environment and campaign costs if I decide to run in the future. Thanks for helping wrap our community-driven campaign with care and sustainably!

I’m so grateful for all your support during my very first campaign! Thank you! 💛

The early results are in, and I’m deeply honored that our community has entrusted me to represent the 5th seat on the Northshore School District Board of Directors!

Thank you to every Northshore neighbor who contributed, advocated, encouraged, and voted. From day one, this campaign has been about inclusivity, connection, and community, and I’m profoundly grateful for your trust and support.

No matter who you voted for, I will be here to listen, to learn, and to represent our entire, diverse community with transparency and care.

I’m looking forward to stepping off my first campaign trail and into the boardroom alongside four other incredible board members. Together, we will work to ensure every learner feels seen, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential in our schools.

The real work begins in January, and I can’t wait to be sworn in as your representative. 💛

After finishing forest school, we dropped off our ballots at one of our favorite places: the Woodinville Library! It was inspiring to see a steady line of cars pulling up to turn in their ballots at the same time. And Librarian Poppy even gave us a tour of the book-sorting machine, so it was a double exciting trip for my kiddo.

It is truly an indescribable feeling to go from a public school student, to a public school teacher, to a candidate for our public school board. Bubbling in my own name for Northshore School District School Board, Seat 5 Director, was surreal.

I want my little one to know that when I saw an opportunity to serve our community and represent our values, I dug deep for bravery. I didn’t have the courage to run for office until I grew this human and looked into his eyes at 18 months old and thought: I want you to know I did everything I possibly could to hand your generation a thriving, equitable society.

I also want my former students (many of whom are voting adults now!) to feel proud. I want them to see that their teacher, who believed in them then, is still just as passionate about making sure all learners feel welcome and supported with equal access to pathways of opportunity.

As a first-time candidate, I’ve learned so much over the past six months and met so many incredible people in our community. I’m deeply grateful for everyone who has contributed, encouraged, and endorsed me along the way.

From the classroom to the school boardroom, I’m excited about the possibility of using my knowledge and experience as a veteran educator to serve students and families in a new and different way.

Polls close at 8 PM! Let’s get those ballots in! 🗳️

An extremely wet and very blustery fall day didn’t stop us or our community from waving signs in Woodinville this morning! A huge thank you to everyone who stood out in the rain (including those who arent pictured!), waved from your cars, or beep-beep-beeped their support! You kept us going when the rain was coming down so hard we could hardly see and we appreciate you!

If you haven’t already, a great rainy day acitivity for this weekend is to make sure your voice is counted: fill out your ballot and drop it off at your nearest county drop box— mine is conveniently located in the parking lot of the Woodinville library so we will be popping in for a good picture book, as well! The post office is busy and can’t guarantee that ballots will be postmarked by the deadline if they are being mailed this close to it, so the safest way to make sure your vote counts is to get it in a drop box before polls close at 8 PM on Tuesday, Nov. 4. King and Snohomish counties have teams ready to collect ballots right away!

In past elections, turnout has been around 40%, but I think we can do better this year! Together, we can show the power of the Northshore community and the inclusive values we share with our votes!

I deeply appreciate Jenna Peterson of the Everett Herald for taking the time to interview me last week about why I decided to run for our community’s school board and what matters most to me, as a veteran public school teacher and parent of an incoming Northshore School District student. Her article does a great job of highlighting each candidate’s platform and experience.

I’m proud to be in this race with two other candidates who also believe in fully funded public schools and inclusive, data-informed, evidence-based policy: Sandy Hayes and Carson Sanderson.

After a fun (and hopefully dry!) night of costumes and candy tomorrow, make sure to be a voter, too! Drop off your ballot this weekend— polls close Tuesday, Nov 4!

I’ll be dropping off a ballot that aspires to a board that is deeply invested in every single student thriving in our every one of our schools. 💛

Three open positions for Northshore school board saw crowded races in the primary. Now, the races are down to two candidates each.

Ballots are in mailboxes and our community is beginning to choose their representatives!

I’ve just ordered a second batch of Teacher Kelly signs and they’ve been going up all over the Northshore School District. Thank you to all of you who have donated in the last two weeks! Your support helped us replenish our sign supply from the primary.

With two weeks left before the ballot boxes close, here’s how you can be a part of this campaign:
• Know a busy intersection or high-traffic area that could use a sign?
• Live on a well-traveled road and want one for your yard?
• Is your yard one neighbors notice, or look to, when deciding how to vote?

If so leave a comment and I reach out! I am dropping off signs to people during my toddler’s post-forest school car naps or coordinating pick ups!

Let’s get these signs out as a reminder that our community values inclusive schools that support all learners and their educators! 💛
