With over 500 members CLIMB is one of the largest and most active regional Mountain Biking clubs in the US. Based on Long Island our membership represents all levels of riders from beginners to experts. Our common passion for trail riding and stewardship brings us together as a collective voice. CLIMB teaches volunteers how to design, build and maintain sustainable recreational mountain bicycle tr

Bethpage group ride Sunday September 6 at 9am at Bethpage Park. Learn the spaghetti maize of trails on a 2-3 hour tour. Meet at the picnic grounds parking area just past the polo fields. Helmets and eye protection are required for safety. Use the trails at your own risk. You’re responsible for your own safety. Walk what you can’t ride. Have fun. Rain or inclement weather cancels.

Men and Women in tights! It’s that time of the year again! Eastern Suffolk County tick larvae have hatched and they want your blood! They will crawl through the weave of your socks and bite your ankles. It doesn’t matter if you use permethrin, deet or picaridin. The bite location itches for weeks. What’s the solution? Wear tight weaved tights such as nylons or Rynoskin Total or or Underarmor heat tights or just ride the western Suffolk and Nassau/Queens trails. We haven’t noticed any larvae west of exit 60 yet. If you do find any let us know the location.

Insloped berm turns are designed to move water off the trail towards the inside where it can percolate down into the soil. Keeping the slope towards the very inside keeps water from sitting in the turn itself. Rarely do we build drains on the outside of a turn because it’s not long lasting. Due to the natural berming action of your tires in a turn this would close off an outside drain on any berm and cause puddles to form because the middle of the trail is packed down and doesn’t drain well and then require more maintenance . The inside berm turn drain takes more work but lasts way longer without maintenance. Think of an insloped berm turn as a slice of pizza with the crust as the outer edge.

Thanks to the trail stewards, trail ambassadors and volunteers for clearing drains, downfall and erosion repair at Glacial Ridge. When riding any trail expect the unexpected: a downed tree around a blind corner, deep sand at the bottom of a hill, a family of racoons around a blind corner. Please be a considerate rider and be friendly to all you meet on the trail and above all don’t be a skidiot! Ride it don’t slide it!

Rolling grade dip drains redirect water off the trail preventing erosion, puddles and sand build up. The CLIMB Trail Ambassadors are starting up DIRTY THURSDAYS - an after work trail maintenance series that will work on Glacier Ridge and Cathedral Pines trails. Want to join us?
