Update: Benefits include vacation and sick time accrual after a 90 day probationary period, health, dental and vision insurances are available, and offers TCRS.

The pay is on a years of service scale:
0-2 years, 2-5 years, 5-10 years, 10-15 years, 15-20 years, and 20+ years.

Corrections- start out pay with no experience is $18/hr. Each tier of service increases by .50 cents.

Certified Deputy pay- starts at $21.10, then $21.60, $22.40, $23.20, $24.00, and final tier is $24.80.

Investigations- starts at $24.50, then each tier increases by .50 cents.

We are hiring! We have a few different positions available, including Certified Deputy, Correctional Deputy and Investigator. Come to the sheriff’s office to fill out an application and come be a part of our team! If you have any questions, call the office at 615-563-1000.

Cannon County EMS would like to congratulate Critical Care Paramedic Jeremy Young and Paramedic Joel Lowdermilk on their recent graduations and continued advancement in emergency medical services!

CCP Young successfully completed the Critical Care Paramedic program through Volunteer State Community College, earning his Critical Care certification.

Paramedic Lowdermilk also successfully completed his Paramedic program through Volunteer State Community College, earning his Paramedic certification.

These accomplishments represent countless hours of classroom instruction, studying, clinical experience, skills training, and dedication. Continuing your education while serving your community takes tremendous commitment, and we are proud to have both Jeremy and Joel as part of the CCEMS family.

This week, we recognize the dedicated men and women of rescue squads across Tennessee and beyond who answer the call day and night — often without hesitation and without recognition.

From vehicle extrications and water rescues to search operations and disaster response, rescue squad personnel stand ready to serve their communities during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Stop by the Rescue Squad/Fire Department’s booth at the 2026 Cannon County Good Ole Day and register to win a free Fire Extinguisher. A drawing will be held and 25 families in Cannon County, Woodbury, or Auburntown will win a free home Fire Extinguisher. We also have free Yellow DOT medical forms and lots of giveaways for children. This project is sponsored by the Rescue Squad and all the Volunteers Fire Stations throughout our community. We are grateful for a generous grant from the General Mills Foundation, which helps us support our outreach programs and improve safety in our communities.

This week, everyone at Cannon County EMS would like to wish a very Happy National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week to all of our dedicated dispatchers and the team at Cannon County 911.

Your voice is the calm in the chaos, the steady presence behind every call, and the critical first link in the chain of emergency response. Day in and day out, you answer the call often on someone’s worst day and help guide both the public and first responders through it.

We appreciate your professionalism, your dedication, and the vital role you play in keeping our community safe. Thank you for everything you do, seen and unseen.

Cannon County EMS is strengthening its emergency response capabilities in the communities!

Over the past two months, Cannon County EMS proudly hosted and instructed an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Course at the Adams Memorial Library. This comprehensive program provided participants with extensive pre-hospital emergency medical training, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue certification through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) as well as the State of Tennessee Department of Health Division of EMS.
This course represented many hours of hands-on and classroom instruction, preparing a new group of responders to serve their community in their critical moments of need.

In addition to training, Cannon County EMS secured a grant through the Tennessee Department of Health to enhance emergency preparedness across the county. These funds were used to purchase new emergency response equipment to outfit both newly trained and current EMRs serving in volunteer departments. The upgraded gear includes new Zoll AEDs and fully stocked medical response bags equipped with oxygen.

These EMRs serve as vital members of the Cannon County Fire Department, Auburntown Fire Department, Woodbury Fire Dept, and the Cannon County Rescue Squad. Their response plays a crucial role in improving response times—especially in rural areas of Cannon County where EMS units may face longer travel distances.

With the addition of highly trained responders and modern lifesaving equipment, Cannon County is better prepared than ever. These advancements ensure that both residents and visitors can receive rapid, effective care when emergencies arise, ultimately strengthening the safety and well-being of the entire community.

🚑🎉 Congratulations to the Cannon County EMR Class of 2026! 🎉🚑

Huge congratulations to our newest Emergency Medical Responders on successfully completing the EMR course! This two-month program took serious dedication, long hours of studying, and hands-on skills training—and every one of you rose to the challenge.

This class brought together personnel from the Cannon County Fire Department, Auburntown Fire Department, Woodbury Fire Department, Cannon County 911 Dispatch, and the Cannon County Rescue Squad—a true team effort across our county’s first responder family.

These responders will soon be providing critical emergency medical care throughout the communities of Cannon County, helping ensure rapid response and high-quality care for both citizens and visitors of our beautiful county.

We’re proud of the hard work you put in and grateful for your commitment to serving others. This achievement makes our community safer and stronger. Well done! 👏🚨

Congratulations to all the county responders for completing their EMR program, today was the final day of a 2 month long class under the direction of Cannon County EMS director Justin Harris. The AVFD had 3 members complete the class today and are ready to move on to the National Registry Exam to become certified Emergency Medical Responders they are Colton Tuck, Ryan Tramel and Chris Singleton. Take a moment to congratulate them and wish them and all the other responders luck in the next step of this process! We would also like to say Thank You to Director Harris and his team for making this class happen and taking time from their personal schedules to be there and make sure all these responders have the tools they need to succeed in obtaining their certification.
