Yesterday was Flag Day, a day dedicated to honoring the American flag and what it represents.

Do you know your flag etiquette? Test your knowledge!
🔹 Did you know the U.S. flag should never touch the ground?
🔹 Did you know that when displayed on a wall, the blue field (union) should be in the upper left corner from the viewer's perspective?
🔹 Did you know the flag should be illuminated if displayed at night?
🔹 Did you know a worn or damaged flag should be retired in a dignified manner?

Flag Day commemorates June 14, 1777, when the Continental Congress adopted the Stars and Stripes as the official flag of the United States. Check out the American Flag History & Flag Etiquette · National Flag Foundation. https://www.nationalflagfoundation.org/the-flag/

The City of Woodburn has hired a contractor to perform a slurry seal on the streets shown on the attached maps. A list of streets affected is also attached. A slurry seal is a cost-effective pavement preservation method that extends the service life of your street.

What you need to know:

• Closure Schedule: Each street shown on the attached map will be closed for a single day, either Monday, June 15, or Tuesday, June 16
• Closure Hours: 7:00am to 6:00pm
• Parking and Access: During these hours, residents who need access to their vehicles must park on a nearby street that is not affected by the maintenance

We appreciate your patience and understanding while the City performs this important infrastructure maintenance. Please direct questions to Cole Grube, Project Engineer, at 503-982-5241 or [email protected].
----

Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) season has arrived in Oregon.

Thanks to a mild winter and warm spring, adult EABs are emerging earlier than usual and may already be active. Because several native insects share similar colors and features, the Oregon Department of Agriculture has created a helpful guide to assist with identification.

Before submitting a report, take a look at the EAB Look-Alikes Guide:https://www.oregon.gov/.../Documents/EABLookAlikes.pdf

If you believe you've spotted an Emerald Ash Borer, report it through the Oregon Invasive Species Hotline: https://oregoninvasiveshotline.org/reports/create

Community observations play an important role in helping protect Oregon's ash trees and supporting early detection efforts.

NOTICE: Water customers on Princeton Rd. Tomorrow (6/2), the water will be shut off from 9 am to noon for emergency main line repairs.
Once water is restored, you may experience discolored water. Please run faucets for a couple of minutes to clear them out. The water is safe. Discoloring is natural sediment that gets stirred up in the pipes.
