It’s always great to hear positive feedback about the men and women who serve our community.

Recently, Deputy Rushlow received two separate compliments from citizens recognizing his professionalism, compassion, and commitment to helping others. One compliment highlighted his efforts in assisting a family reunite with their missing puppy, while another came from travelers on Interstate 95 who were grateful for his assistance and concern for their safety during a roadside emergency.

These moments may seem small, but they reflect the dedication our deputies bring to the job every day. Whether responding to calls for service, assisting stranded motorists, or helping citizens through difficult situations, our deputies are committed to serving with professionalism and care.

Thank you, Deputy Rushlow, for representing the Camden County Sheriff's Office so well. We are proud to have you on our team. 👏🚔

There were a lot of proud smiles and excited students as Camden County’s 5th grade students celebrated their 2026 C.H.A.M.P.S. Graduation on April 10, 2026.

This year marked the largest graduation to date, bringing together all 9 elementary schools and celebrating approximately 730 students as they completed the program.

C.H.A.M.P.S. — Choosing Healthy Activities and Methods Promoting Safety — gives students the opportunity to build relationships with deputies while learning important lessons about good choices, safety, respect, peer pressure, bullying prevention, and character. Programs like this matter because they help invest in our children long before they face life’s tougher decisions.

This event would not have been possible without the incredible support of our community. Thank you to AAA Bonding, Ace Hardware, Advance Collision Center, Alien Treats, Blue Bridge Coffeehouse, Bounce It Out Events, Butler Bonding, Chick-fil-A, Coastal Craving, Friese Studio of Music, Horse & Cow, Huey Magoo's, Evans Marketing Group, Marine Corps Security Force Battalion volunteers from Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Fire Rescue, SMPD, KPD, CCSO, DNR, OPS Pizza, OuterBanks, Rentz Family Dental, TNT Teriyaki, Walkabout RV Park, the City of St. Marys, the Camden County School Board, Camden County High School, all Camden County elementary schools, Patsy with the VFW, parent volunteers, and the Camden County community as a whole.

Because of your support, these students were celebrated in a big way and given a day they will never forget.

Congratulations to all of this year’s C.H.A.M.P.S. graduates — your community is proud of you.

🎓💙 The Camden County Sheriff’s Office family is celebrating some very special graduates this season.

One of the greatest parts of this profession is that it becomes more than just a workplace — it becomes family. Through long hours, holidays, emergencies, victories, and challenges, we watch each other’s families grow right alongside this agency. Moments like graduation remind us just how special that bond truly is.

This year, we are proud to recognize three Camden County High School graduates who are part of our Sheriff’s Office family:

🎓 Cooper Chaney — son of Sheriff Kevin and Rebecca Chaney
🎓 Jessie Gordon— daughter of our Jason and Debbie Gordon
🎓 Rebecca Lynn — daughter of Eric and Amanda Watson

And our Glynn Academy graduate:
🎓 Liberty Ashley — daughter of Brandi Jones and Scott Ashley

We are incredibly proud of each of you and excited to see where life takes you next. Your CCSO family will always be cheering you on.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026! 💙🖤

🚁 This week for EMS Week, members of the Camden County Sheriff’s Office Marine Division had the opportunity to attend the “Before the Door” conference hosted by UF Health TraumaOne on 8th Street in Jacksonville. The conference focused on prehospital and emergency medicine education, bringing together first responders from across the region to continue learning and sharpening critical lifesaving skills.

We’re proud to work alongside our partners at Camden County Fire Rescue and appreciate the strong partnership we continue to build through joint training opportunities and collaboration in the field. From emergency response training to the EMT class they helped put on for our agency last year, their support and professionalism continue to make a difference in our community.

Lieutenant Wellner and Sergeant Duckworth regularly provide CPR classes and certifications for members of our agency and partner agencies to help ensure our personnel are prepared when seconds matter most.

Training never stops in public safety — because the best outcomes often begin before the door. 🚑⚓

Today, we remember Deputy Nicky Coleman on the 41st anniversary of his end of watch.

On this day in 1985, Deputy Coleman was struck and killed by a box truck while conducting a traffic stop along Interstate 95. He was only 24 years old.

More than four decades later, his sacrifice is not forgotten. Deputy Coleman gave his life serving and protecting the citizens of Camden County, and we continue to honor the legacy he left behind.

His story also serves as an important reminder of why Georgia’s Move Over Law matters. When you see emergency lights on the side of the road, slow down and move over whenever possible. A simple decision can save a life.

“As we remember Deputy Coleman today, we also recognize the dangers law enforcement officers and first responders continue to face every day on our roadways,” said Sheriff Kevin Chaney. “We ask our community to help protect those who serve by staying alert, slowing down, and moving over.”

Please join us in remembering Deputy Nicky Coleman and keeping his family, friends, and fellow deputies in your thoughts today.
