A message from the Mayor and the City Council:

City of Wood River Halloween-Oct. 30 & 31st
Trick-or-Treat Hours 6:00 p,m, to 8:00 p.m., for children 12 yrs, and under

Due to the pandemic, we are being asked whether the city is cancelling Halloween in Wood River. While the annual parade and Halloween party are cancelled, we are not cancelling Halloween Trick-or­-Treating.

Trick-or-treating can be accomplished safely, as long as the Department of Health guidelines are followed. Treats are already individually wrapped and sealed. And the outdoors allows for social distancing.

For your safety as well as the other trick-or-treaters and visiting homes, please:

*Wear a mask (not the Halloween kind) if interacting closely with others.

*Do not leave bowls of candy on your porch that multiple people will touch.

*Participate in one-way trick-or-treating where wrapped goodies are lined up for families to grab and go, while continuing to social distance (such as at the end of a driveway or at the edge of a yard).

*If you are uncomfortable with giving out candy, please do not turn on your porch light.

*If you are uncomfortable with your children trick-or-treating, it is your choice as a parent or guardian to not send them.

*We encourage everyone to practice social distancing, to the upmost extent, as it is possible when you are walking around outdoors.

Starting tomorrow, June 4th at 9:00am, crews will begin closing the floodgates on East Broadway/West St. Louis Avenue at “The Islands” in East Alton. The gates are being closed in anticipation of additional rainfall and the anticipated river crest.
