City of Wood Dale The City of Wood Dale serves the needs of its citizens by providing quality police & public services. Incorporated in 1928, it became a city in 1970.

The City of Wood Dale is a northwest suburban community of approximately 13,000 residents. History recognizes the Lester family as the most significant contributors to the City of Wood Dale’s founding. John Lester arrived from New York in 1834 and, along with his father and five of his brothers, made a claim on Irving Park Road at Salt Creek, an area then known as Dunklees Grove. Wood Dale is a co

mmunity that offers a variety of new housing opportunities, including affordable condominiums, luxury townhomes, and single-family homes. Wood Dale is currently experiencing economic growth, both in its industrial district as well as its downtown area. Wood Dale has a daytime population of over 35,000. The City is surrounded by three golf courses and many acres of forest preserves. The City's proximity to Chicago, O'Hare Airport, and several major interstate highways, as well as numerous shopping areas and restaurants, make Wood Dale an ideal place for families and businesses alike. Wood Dale is also serviced by Metra Rail with a direct connection to both Chicago and Elgin. The City has a history of economic progress and is highly desirable because of its large acres of open space, outstanding Park District and School District facilities, award-winning Police Department and customer-focused city services. The City of Wood Dale offers all the benefits of a modern urbanized city, while also keeping some of it’s small town charm. The City has operated under the council-manager form of government for the past 30+ years. Eight aldermen elected from four wards and a mayor elected at large see to the needs of Wood Dale residents, while a professional city manager and staff see to day to day operations. These fests include:
🎡 Wood Dale's Prairie Fest at Community Park (Jun 18-21): a carnival, live music, children's entertainment, food, drinks, and fireworks
🌯 Frontier Days at Recreation Park (July 1-5): free entertainment, a carnival, beer tent, food, and more
🚚 Roselle Independence Day Celebration (July 3): traditional free fireworks show, live music, food trucks

The City of Wood Dale is continuing its commitment to reliable, efficient infrastructure. In the coming months, we will begin replacing existing water meters.

Why the upgrade?
• Outdated Meters: Most of the current meters have reached the end of their useful life.
• Improved Accuracy: Ensures precise tracking of your water usage.
• Enhanced Service: Provides better support and faster data insights.
• Sustainability: Helps conserve resources and protect our environment.

What you need to know:
Residents will receive additional direct communications soon from the City and our partner, Veregy LLC, with details on how the program works and what to expect.

The first application for spongy moth control rescheduled for June 4 (weather permitting) in targeted areas. A low-flying helicopter will be used to apply a treatment with a naturally occurring bacteria—safe for people and pets!
A second application will follow in one week.

Residents will receive a CodeRed notification at 6:00 pm on June 3.
