September is National Preparedness Month - Week 3: Power Outages, Infrastructure & Health Resilience - a great time to take a few simple steps to stay safe and connected when the power goes out.

Power outages can surprise us, but a little planning makes them much easier to handle. Take a quick look around your home and think about what you'd need if the lights went out - especially anything important for health or daily routines.

Keep your phones charged, jot down important numbers, and have a couple of backup options like a power bank. Make sure everyone knows how to open the garage door manually and keep flashlights and fresh batteries where they're easy to find.

A few simple steps now can help your family stay safe, comfortable, and connected when unexpected things happen.

September is National Preparedness Month - Week 2: Climate & Disaster Readiness - Climate and weather hazards are becoming more unpredictable, which is why National Preparedness Month is a great time to boost your family's readiness.

Start by knowing the risks where you live - severe storms, flash floods, tornadoes, heat waves, or wildfire smoke. Talk with your family about evacuation routes, safe shelter areas in your home, and how you'll stay informed if a warning is issued.

Make sure you have multiple ways to receive alerts, especially during overnight storms or power outages. Preparations don't need to be complicated. A little planning now helps your family stay calm, confident, and connected during rapidly changing weather.
