Granite Staters care about public education.

We just crossed two major milestones!

✅ 100 donors
✅ $16,432 raised

We're incredibly grateful to everyone who has invested in fair and equitable public education through NH Gives. Now we're focused on the final stretch.

We're just $3,568 away from our $20,000 goal.

Every gift helps strengthen the public understanding, advocacy, and organizing needed to shape the future of public education in New Hampshire. Will you help us cross the finish line?

Be an informed voter! Know where the candidates stand on public education in New Hampshire. It may surprise, or disturb, you, what the Free State Republicans want.

With communities likely to vote on school tax caps this November, schools face an immediate communication challenge.

Most residents can tell you that property taxes are high, school budgets have risen, and enrollment is declining. Those concerns are real and deserve serious discussion.

But far fewer people could explain how schools support workforce development, contribute to economic competitiveness, or help prepare the next generation of workers, taxpayers, healthcare professionals, and community leaders. As a result, many conversations about education begin and end with cost.

I believe we need a broader discussion.

Not one that ignores concerns about affordability.

Not one that simply defends the status quo.

And not one that assumes schools are failing.

New Hampshire remains one of the highest-performing states in the nation, even as academic performance has declined across the country. At the same time, research consistently shows that educational outcomes are influenced by factors both inside and outside the classroom. Improving outcomes requires strong schools, strong families, and strong communities working together.

The challenge before us is not simply funding.

It is trust.

In Part II of my “From Defense to Strategy” series, I explore how schools, communities, businesses, and policymakers can work together to rebuild that trust and create a shared public narrative before November.

Because excellent schools and affordable communities are not competing goals.

New Hampshire needs both.

As always, I welcome thoughtful discussion and differing perspectives.

Cryptocurrency scams are a problem in New Hampshire, often targeting seniors.

Happy Flag Day!

Happy Flag Day!

On this day in 1777, Congress adopted a resolution establishing an official flag of the United States: “Resolved, that the Flag of the thirteen United States shall be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the Union be thirteen stars, white on a blue field, representing a new constellation.”

Interestingly, Congress did not require that the stars be displayed on the flag in any particular pattern, so that the arrangement of the stars on the flag was left to the flag makers’ discretion. An early and popular version of the flag arranged the stars in a circle, to represent the equality of the states. Not until 1912, pursuant to an Executive Order of President Taft, was an official arrangement of the stars designated.

In 1794 two stripes and two stars were added to the flag, in recognition of the newly added states of Vermont and Kentucky. In 1818 Congress enacted a law requiring that the number of stars on the flag equal the number of states but returning the number of stripes to thirteen.

President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation in 1916, recognizing June 14 as “Flag Day,” as did President Calvin Coolidge in 1927. Not until 1949, however, did Congress pass a law officially establishing Flag Day as a national observance.

So, Happy Birthday to the Stars and Stripes and Happy Flag Day!

Our next District 3 New Hampshire Senator! Bobbi Boudman for NH

Flag day was inspired in 1861 by the Union— may we remember our full history, and all the good we should create under the promise of America when we unify behind Liberty and Justice for All.

Why are Republicans in office, whether it's in the U.S. Congress or right here in New Hampshire, so complicit when it comes to President Donald J. Trump? Be an informed voter. It's time to shake things up. The people have the power to break the Free State GOP trifecta in Concord. Remember on Primary Day. And definitely, remember in November.
