**🌨️Public Safety Update – Winter Storm Preparedness🌨️**

In preparation for the upcoming winter storm, the Wolcott Volunteer Fire Department will have crews on standby at each firehouse beginning at 6:00 PM on Sunday.

We have contingency plans in place and are working closely with our partner agencies Wolcott Ambulance Association, Wolcott Police Department, and Wolcott Public Works Department to ensure a coordinated response throughout the storm.

Our priority is the safety of our residents, and we are prepared to respond as conditions change. Please continue to monitor official town channels for updates.

**⚠️ Important Safety Reminder⚠️**

Heavy snow and drifting can block heating system and water heater intake/exhaust vents especially on high-efficiency gas or propane units causing dangerous carbon monoxide (CO) buildup inside homes.

During past storms, our crews responded to CO incidents that could have had serious consequences. Thankfully, working CO alarms alerted homeowners in time, allowing crews to ventilate and secure the homes safely.

Please:
✔️ Check that all heating and water heater vents are clear of snow
✔️ Clear snow away from exterior exhaust pipes
✔️ Ensure you have working carbon monoxide alarms on every level of your home
✔️ Never run generators inside your home or garage

Important Safety Reminder:

Heavy snow and drifting can block heating system and water heater intake/exhaust vents, especially on high-efficiency gas or propane units, causing dangerous carbon monoxide (CO) buildup inside homes. Since the storm began, Wolcott Volunteer Fire Department crews have responded to two CO incidents that could have had serious consequences. Thankfully, working CO alarms alerted the homeowners, allowing crews to ventilate and secure the homes safely. Please check that all vents are clear of snow and ensure you have functioning CO alarms in your home.

Today, on National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, the Wolcott Volunteer Fire Department proudly recognizes and thanks the Wolcott Police Department, along with all police departments nationwide, for their unwavering service and dedication.
Your commitment to protecting our community, often under challenging and dangerous circumstances, does not go unnoticed. We are grateful for the strong partnership we share working side by side to keep Wolcott safe, support one another during emergencies, and serve our residents with professionalism and integrity.
