Today we made learning fun while exploring how our bodies work! The children took turns running down the hallway and then feeling their hearts beat faster afterward, helping them observe how physical activity affects their bodies.
We were also excited to welcome a special guest reader, a 🩺Physician Assistant (PA), who shared the importance of healthy habits, including staying active🏃‍♀️, eating nutritious foods🍊🍓🍎, and taking care of our bodies.💪

This hands-on experience supported the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS) by encouraging scientific inquiry, promoting health and wellness awareness, and helping children make connections between healthy choices and how their bodies function. Thank you to our guest reader for helping us learn and grow!

Tonight we hosted our second CT Documentation and Observation for Teaching training! Our dedicated staff spent the evening learning new strategies to support children's growth and development through meaningful observation and documentation.
To make the evening even more enjoyable, we shared pizza together and had a special surprise visit from a bear! 🐻🍕 Thank you to our amazing team for their commitment to continuous learning and providing high-quality experiences for the children and families we serve. Special thanks to Sue!

Social and Emotional Development: Children develop self-awareness and a sense of identity as they recognize and represent their own features.
Creative Arts Expression: Children use art materials to express themselves and communicate ideas creatively.
Language and Literacy📚: Discussing their portraits helps children build vocabulary and describe themselves and others.
Physical Development and Health: Drawing strengthens fine motor skills, hand strength, and hand-eye coordination.
Cognition: Children use observation skills as they notice details about themselves and make decisions about how to represent those details in their artwork.

Our Preschool children planted corn kernels! 🌽We practiced fine motor skills, and learned about the plant life cycle. Activities like this encourage curiosity, observation, and responsibility as the children care for their growing plants.🌱

This activity aligns with the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS) by supporting scientific inquiry, fine motor development, problem-solving, and social-emotional growth through cooperative learning and exploration. We love creating meaningful experiences that help our little learners grow! 💚

Today our Preschool 2 friends practiced writing their names using clipboards and pencils! ✏️📋
This hands-on activity helps children strengthen fine motor skills, pencil grip, hand-eye coordination, and letter recognition while building confidence in early writing. Writing names is an important step in developing independence and early literacy skills.

This activity also correlates with the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS) by supporting approaches to learning, language and literacy development, and physical development through purposeful play and writing experiences. We are so proud of all their hard work and growing skills! 💙
