We’re aware of concerns regarding the traffic signals at the intersection of Chase St. and the Expressway.

The signals have been operating in flash mode for more than a week following damage believed to have been caused by lightning. Repairs are scheduled for Wednesday of this week.

In the meantime, signal operations on the Expressway have been adjusted to an all-red flash to help improve visibility and provide for safer navigation through the intersection.

Please use extra caution, pay attention to the flashing signals, and allow additional time when traveling through the area.

Twenty-five years later, we remember.

On Sept. 11, 2001, thousands of lives were lost, families were changed forever, and a nation was shaken. We also remember the first responders, military members, volunteers, and ordinary people who stepped forward to help.

Today, Wisconsin Rapids joins communities across the country in honoring those we lost and those who showed courage in the face of unimaginable circumstances.

Lane Closure is expected in the outside (right) southbound and northbound lanes of 8th St S, between Taylor Ave and Airport Ave, due to catch basin maintenance by the City of Wisconsin Rapids, beginning at 7:00 a.m. Thursday, September 10, 2026 and is expected to re-open at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2026. Traffic will be shifted to the inside (left) southbound and northbound lanes of 8th St S. Traffic control will be removed each day for evening traffic flow.

Grand Ave, between 3rd St and 4th Ave, will be closed to through traffic due to the Downtown Grand Affair by the Heart of Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce, beginning at 7:00 a.m. Sunday, September 13, 2026 and is expected to re-open at 5:00 p.m. the same day. The side streets abutting Grand Ave, including 1st Ave S and 2nd Ave S will be closed to through traffic. The 3rd Ave intersection will remain open during the event. Traffic will be detoured onto Jackson St.
