Alex attended the Coastal Counties Workforce Board in Freeport, today. Lincoln County Commissioner Evan Goodkowsky and Bristol resident Justin Cotta Holmes, who serve on the Board of Directors, were in attendance to celebrate the last year’s work, honor awardees, and say farewell to longtime Executive Director Antoinette Mancusi. We thank Antoinette for her strong leadership and wish her well. We also welcome Heather Stott, current Deputy Director and incoming Executive Director. We are thrilled to see Heather take on this new role.

The mission of the Coastal Counties Workforce Board: “To meet the changing workplace needs ol businesses and job seekers by promoting economic opportunities through developing workforce skills in demand.
The Coastal Counties Workforce Board (CCWB) supports the regional economy by advancing a range of workforce training services that meet current business needs.“

CCWB covers Waldo, Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc, Cumberland, and York counties.

Join us for a free interactive tour in the Twin Villages, and learn about ongoing climate resilience projects!

The Towns of Damariscotta and Town of Newcastle, Maine are partnering with the Southern & Midcoast Regional Coordinator Collaborative (SMRCC), which includes Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission, to host a free community site visit highlighting local energy and resilience projects on Tuesday, September 22, from 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM.

We’ll start at the Newcastle Fire Station to see the Town’s solar, battery storage, and community battery lending program. Then, we'll head to downtown Damariscotta to learn how the town is adapting its downtown infrastructure to flooding, improving stormwater management, and incorporating public EV charging!

Newcastle, Damariscotta, and other area residents are encouraged to join us to see these projects firsthand, hear from the people who helped make them happen, ask questions, and learn what’s next. The visit will conclude with a free lunch and community discussion in Damariscotta!

Free to attend. Carpooling can be coordinated for interested participants.

Chambers of Commerce are among the strongest partners in community and economic development and the Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce is no exception.

Last night Alex attended their Annual Harvest Gathering at Crawford Farm in Warren, featuring hundreds of distinguished guests, an inspiring awards ceremony, excellent food, and a fabulous silent auction.

In addition to Damariscotta Chamber members, special guests included Scott Wilkinson from Senator King’s Office, Lisa Walby from the Boothbay Region Chamber of Commerce, and Brie DiPerri of the Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce.

We thank the Chamber’s members, board members, volunteers, and Executive Director Christa Thorpe. We also extend a huge congratulations to those businesses, nonprofits, and community members nominated and awarded- thanks for your dedication and hard work!

Happy September! A new month means a new Planning in the Wild workshop!

Join Midcoast Conservancy and LCRPC on Wednesday, September 23rd from 3PM to 5PM for an Invasive Species Walk & Talk Workshop.

The Department of Agriculture Conservation and Forestry, Maine Natural Areas Program, and Maine Forest Service will lead this program on common terrestrial invasive species and how to deal with them on your property.

Learn what common invasive species inhabit our yards and woods, how to identify them, and how they affect the native ecology. Find out what actions you can take in and around your home and community to mitigate these invasive species. Take home educational resources and know where to find answers to your questions as they arise.
