We want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who worked through yesterday’s propane leak in Boothbay Harbor.

First and foremost, thank you to all of the responders who worked diligently to resolve the leak safely. Their efforts were not only critical to protecting the safety of those on scene, but also to protecting the surrounding community. No effort yesterday went unnoticed.

We also want to recognize our community partners who stepped up to support the evacuation and those impacted by the incident.

Thank you you to the Boothbay Region YMCA for providing transportation for individuals who had to leave their vehicles, helping them get to a safer location to be picked up or wait until it was safe to return to the area.

Thank you to the Wiscasset Community Center for answering the call to keep your doors open for an additional couple of hours to provide a safe place for those who needed to get off the peninsula.

Thank you to our state and utility partners, including MEMA, Maine DEP, and CMP, for answering the call and supporting the response in numerous ways.

Lastly, thank you to our community for understanding the severity and complexity of the incident. From bringing food to responders when it was safe to do so, to following evacuation instructions and allowing responders the space they needed to do their jobs, your cooperation and support were truly appreciated.

Yesterday was a great example of what our community can accomplish when we work together. Thank you to everyone who played a part in keeping our community safe.
