Big thanks to the South Central Minnesota EMS System for helping us sharpen our skills! Our newest members got to learn, the rest of us got to dust off the cobwebs, and prove we still remember how to do reverse serpentine. 😂

Because nothing says fun day in EMS like backing an ambulance around cones and hoping nobody’s watching! 🚑

Always learning, always practicing, and only occasionally questioning our life choices. 😉

Today, our friends from Le Center Volunteer Ambulance laid one of their own to rest.

Zach Morrow loved EMS, was a passionate outdoorsman, devoted family man, and was someone who always shared positivity and encouragement with those around him.

We are proud to have been able to help honor another service member and support his family, while standing alongside our EMS family during such a difficult time.

Thank you to South Central EMS and Minnesota EMS Honor Guard for coordinating and bringing our EMS community together.

To Zach's family and friends, we are profoundly sorry for your loss, and our thoughts are with you.

🚁 HELICOPTER TRAINING VIEWING INFORMATION 🚑

We know many community members, especially our younger future first responders, may want to watch Monday's helicopter landing training with North Memorial Air Care and we love seeing that excitement!

For everyone's safety, please remain OUTSIDE the football field fencing and preferably in the open grassy area in the park. Our crews will need plenty of space to safely operate around the aircraft.

A few things to keep in mind:
👂 Rotors can be very loud, so hearing protection is recommended for younger children.

💨 The helicopter creates powerful wind that can kick up dust, grass, and loose objects.

🚧 Please follow any directions given by emergency personnel and remain OUTSIDE of the landing area.

This training helps ensure our crews and air care partners can work together seamlessly when seconds matter most. Thank you for helping us keep this training safe and successful while supporting your local EMS providers!

🚗🚑 Perspective Matters.

During our recent vehicle entrapment and extrication training, some of our own stepped into a very different role...patient!

Verl and LaNae volunteered to be the occupants trapped inside the vehicles giving our crews a unique opportunity to see the scenario from the patient's perspective.

While we often focus on the technical skills of stabilization, disentanglement, and patient care, it's equally important to remember what the experience feels like for the person inside the wrecked vehicle. Those observations help us improve not only our rescue techniques, but also the comfort and reassurance we provide to patients during what may be one of the most stressful moments of their lives.

This was excellent coordinated training alongside our partners at Winthrop Fire Department, and we are grateful for the teamwork that helps keep our community safe.

A special thank you to the community members who donated their used vehicles for training. Your generosity allows us to practice realistic scenarios, keep our skills sharp, and ensure we're ready when the real call comes.
