Flat Charlie is Back!

Flat Charlie has returned for another season and he's hiding all over Winterset's most historic and fun public locations — can you track him down? Find him and return him to the Madison County Historical Society for a weekly prize, and don't forget to share your adventure with us on Facebook!

Week #1 Clue: The earliest founders of this town rest here, their names and dates carved in stone for anyone curious enough to read them. Walk the rows and see if you can find the oldest date!

A little different Museum Monday post this week. How many of you knew that MCHS is home to a 9-hole disc golf course?

For the past five years, we've been working with the Winterset Disc Golf Club to make this idea a reality. Last summer, thanks to the tireless work of Chris Meleshko, the concrete tee-pads, baskets, and course maps were completed. You can even visit https://udisc.com/courses/madison-county-historical-complex-PXuM to access the digital map, scorecard, and more.

MCHS is working to complete a box of "trail discs" located at hole #1 — if you've never played, stop out and give it a try. Found a disc or lost one? Check the box under the bench at the Museum entrance.
