Earlier today, Madison County Emergency Management, Truro Fire & Rescue, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Methodist Life Flight, Madison County Ambulance and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office took part in a mock crash scene for the students of I-35 schools.

The purpose of the exercise was to impress on our children just how serious and final a decision to drive while impaired can be.

Knocking on a door at 2am and explaining to a parent that their child was killed in a car crash is one of the hardest things we have to do. It’s not only devastating to the friends and family, it’s devastating to an entire community.

We hope today’s exercise made kids think.

We have a (2) Black Lab dogs (male & female) either lost or on a field trip roaming around the 2500blk of Oriole Ave, Southeast of Winterset.

Along with the same scam messages and calls from last month, we are getting reporting of a “Traffic Violation Notice” being received by multiple people throughout the county. If you get a text with this Violation Notice, it is fraudulent and a scam.

As always, our department and state offices will not text you about Violations or Warrants. If you have concerns, please reach out to your local law enforcement office. Do not click on links or call the numbers provided through these messages.

We are again today receiving reports of people receiving calls from people claiming they have missed jury duty and to go purchase gift cards to avoid fines.

If you receive a call of this nature, it’s a scam and please hang up and report it so the word can be spread that it’s taking place.

Once again we are receiving reports of people receiving calls from people claiming to be Deputies with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office needing money to bond loved ones out of jail. Several of these calls have taken place.

**ATTENTION**

Madison County Storm Siren Testing will take place today at 3:30pm throughout all of Madison County. Testing had been planned for this Saturday however with the expected severe weather, it’s been rescheduled for today.

Sirens will sound for a few seconds (hopefully) and then be shut down.
