Mrs. Ramos wrote, "August is kind-hearted and embraces inclusion; always taking the time to sit with our life skills students and make them feel like they are a valued part of their peer group. Student Leadership: Apply to the Winters JUSD Junior Board (Incoming Juniors & Seniors)! ✍🏽
- The Winters JUSD Junior Board brings together remarkable young leaders to enrich district programs and amplify youth voice. Thank you to Mrs. Rodriguez for leading this and making this opportunity happen. What you’ll do:
- Contribute innovative ideas to strengthen our schools
- Advise special initiatives and speak at school/district meetings
- Collaborate on committees and projects with fellow student leaders
- Help classmates’ voices be heard on key education issues
Build leadership skills, public speaking, and learn about board service
Eligibility & Commitment
- Incoming 11th or 12th graders
- Attend monthly meetings (Fridays; schedule TBA)
Serve Aug. 2026 – May 2027

Our next student of the week was nominated by Coach Ward. Mr. Ward wrote, "Riley is a great athlete, but more importantly, she is an even better student and person. She always goes above and beyond in PE and always does so with a smile on her face. She is very competitive and always finds a way to bring out the best in those around her". The famous WHS Polita Gonzales is retiring! To celebrate her years of dedication and the impact she has had on so many students, we are creating a special keepsake gift for her.

If you were one of her students, we would love for you to share your favorite memories, stories, or lessons you learned from her. Please also share any photos you may have with her. We will print the pictures and include your messages in a memory book for her retirement gift.

Congratulations to this week's Student of the Week, Jeanette! Ms. Veronica nominated Jeanette for her hard work and dedication in Math. Ms. Veronica wrote, "Jeanette has been working hard in her Math Class where she has been making large strides in her coursework. She shows up everyday, tries her best, and goes out of her way to assist her peers. In addition, she is respectful and has a positive attitude in class. Ms. Mann selected Kayla because, "During her time at WHS, she has demonstrated a strong work ethic and thoughtful insight into the literature we read. Furthermore, Kayla is cheerful, positive, and helpful. She makes our classroom a better place!". Kayla is also a leader in the AVID classroom and on the field as one of our star cheerleaders.
