Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Firearm Safety Classes.

Participants received in-depth instruction covering firearm laws, safe handling practices, proper storage, maintenance, shooting fundamentals, and critical decision-making. A highlight of the class was the opportunity to experience our Fi****ms Training Simulator (DART MAX), which provides realistic scenarios designed to reinforce safety, situational awareness, and de-escalation techniques.

We appreciate everyone who took the time to invest in responsible firearm ownership and safety education. Stay tuned for future course dates.

The Winter Springs Police Department is conducting a school supply drive to support students of all ages in our community.

From June 1 to July 31, 2026 we are accepting donations of new and unopened school supplies, including notebooks, pencils, and other essential items.

Plain backpacks for all ages are especially needed and are our highest priority this year.

All contributions will directly benefit local students as they prepare for the upcoming academic year. Donations may be dropped off at either Winter Springs Police Department Headquarters or Winter Springs City Hall Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm, and all items must be received by July 31.

We sincerely appreciate your support and commitment to the success of our community’s youth.

As of Friday, May 22, the Seminole County Burn Ban has been extended due to ongoing drought-like conditions and elevated fire risk.

There is currently an increase the risk of forest and brush fires, and as a result, all open burning is prohibited. This includes campfires, bonfires, trash burning, and any other similar open incineration, unless specifically authorized by the Florida Forest Service.

The burn ban extension is effective immediately and will remain in place for seven (7) days, at which time it will be reviewed and either extended or rescinded based on weather conditions.

This action is taken to reduce the risk of fire and protect the health, safety, and property of our community.

ALERT
The Winter Springs police department wants to inform parents about the significant police presence at Winter Springs High School this afternoon.

On Wednesday May 20, 2026, law enforcement and school administrators were notified of a reported student with a weapon on campus.

The school was immediately placed on Code Yellow Lockdown.

Law enforcement responded to the school and it was later determined that there was no actual threat on campus.
We want to thank the school administration, staff, and Seminole County Sheriff's Office for quickly addressing this incident.

Parents, it's crucial to have open conversations with your children about making responsible decisions and promptly reporting any threats to school officials.

Remember, if you see something, say something.
