We participate in Click It or Ticket because we've seen first hand what happens to a person when they are involved in a crash and not wearing a seatbelt. The result can be devastating and also prevented.

Please 💙 buckle up.

Officers hosted a firearm safety class for citizens this last week. The class is offered throughout the year, at no cost to individuals, who want to receive hands-on experience and instruction by officers.

Participants receive in-person classroom instruction, along with supervised practice in the department's range. Be on the look out for the next scheduled event. It's a great course for those new or interested in owning a firearm, along with experienced individuals hoping to sharpen their knowledge and practice.

After 14 years of answering your calls for help, working long and strenuous hours, showing true professionalism in the midst of chaos - Diana Ward has hung up her headset for retirement.

It's the end of an era in the comm center, as Diana has always been known for her commitment, resilience, and for being the voice of hope during someone's most difficult moments.

Colleagues describe her as the steady and calm presence behind the scenes, ensuring help reached those in need.

The role of a 911 operator is uniquely difficult and one that requires care and concern for both the individual in need and responders on the way. When the phone rings, there is no way to know what you are answering - lost dog, catastrophic event, horrific accident... and Diana did her job with true excellence.

We'd like to wish her the very best in this next chapter...it is well deserved.

Thank for for your service, Diana.

Winter Park Police Chief Swears in Two New Officers

In the presence of loved ones, (near and far,) Police Chief Tim Volkerson and the WPPD welcomed two new police officers into their law enforcement family just last week.

After being administered their oath of office, the two were pinned by family members - a longstanding tradition in public safety where a loved one pins the new badge onto the officer's uniform.

Family members as far as Spain zoomed in, while many attended in person. The new members bring valuable experience to the City, with Officer Sara Vicente having a background here in Central Florida and Ofc Chad Johnson coming to us from the state of Michigan.

We are thrilled to have them onboard. Please join us in wishing them the very best in their career here in the City of Winter Park.
