Road work is inconvenient. We get it.

It can change your route, slow down your day and make a familiar road feel frustrating for a while. But these temporary inconveniences are part of a long-term investment in the safety, reliability and condition of Winter Haven’s roadway infrastructure.

Our community has asked for improvements to roads, drainage, sidewalks and other infrastructure. That work is happening. Now we need the community’s help to make sure it happens safely.

Please respect road closures, cones, barricades and posted Maintenance of Traffic routes. These are not suggestions. They are in place to protect drivers, pedestrians, construction crews and nearby property.

Even when you do not see active equipment, closed work zones can include hidden hazards such as open holes, ditches, exposed wires, uneven pavement, overhead work or equipment entering and exiting the area.

We have seen vehicles get stuck, drive into unsafe areas and come dangerously close to heavy equipment. Pedestrians also face serious risks when walking through closed construction zones.

When you see cones, it means a problem has been identified, a solution has been designed, funding has been secured and the improvement is being built.

Temporary inconvenience. Long-term investment.

Thank you for your patience, caution and respect as we continue improving Winter Haven’s roadway infrastructure.

Clean and beautiful parks don't happen by accident. They're the result of a dedicated team working behind the scenes. We caught up with Carlos De Jesús, our Parks & Grounds Assistant Superintendent to talk about his role, what a typical day looks like, and what it means to help keep our community looking its best!
