United Way of Forsyth County

United Way of Forsyth County United Way unites people and resources to tackle our toughest challenges and create lasting solutions. Our first goal was $28,000. We raised $38,215.

Led by President & CEO Dr. Antonia Monk Richburg, we expand opportunity, strengthen families, and build a thriving Forsyth County for all. United Way of Forsyth County originated in 1923 as the Community Chest of Forsyth County. The Community Chest federated the finances of twenty local health and welfare organizations, raising the money in campaigns called Red Feather Drives and distributing money according to need among its member organizations. Since then, our name has changed to United Fund of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County (1951) and to United Way of Forsyth County (1974). From that point on and into the early 1990s, United Way funded partner agencies that serve our community in a variety of ways and aided people in need. Still a successful organization today, we continue to work hand in hand with our partner agencies to align programs and resources to create the most direct and effective solutions to key social issues facing our community. Specifically, we focus on improving education, increasing financial stability among lower-income individuals and families, and broadening access to health care. United Way of Forsyth County also continues to provide assistance to those facing immediate crisis. Our mission is: "United Way of Forsyth County brings the community and its resources together to solve problems no one organization can address alone."
