Last night, we had the privilege of recognizing one of the true pillars of Forsyth County 9‑1‑1 Communications.

Please join us in congratulating Danny Collins, the recipient of the FCFA - Don Mabe Telecommunicator of the Year Award.

Danny has dedicated nearly 39 years of service to this county—quietly leading, teaching, and steadying the room during our most challenging moments. His knowledge, calm presence, and commitment have shaped generations of telecommunicators and strengthened this center in ways that can’t be measured.

Danny has never looked for recognition, but he has certainly earned it. Congratulations, Danny, and thank you for the decades of service you’ve given to Forsyth County.

We appreciate you more than you know.

Congratulations!

We share our deepest condolences from Forsyth County 911 to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, and to the family and friends of Deputy Kaleb Mitchell. His passing this morning, March 7, 2026, is a tremendous loss felt across our entire public safety community.

Deputy Mitchell served with unwavering dedication and a true commitment to protecting the people of Forsyth County. His absence will be felt by all who worked alongside him and by those whose lives he touched through his service.

Our thoughts are with his loved ones and with every member of the FCSO family during this difficult time. We stand with you in honoring his life, his sacrifice, and the legacy he leaves behind.

We also recognize the impact this loss has on those behind the scenes— our partners with FCSO 911—who supported Deputy Mitchell throughout his service and feel this loss deeply as part of the same public safety family.

Community members are invited to join in paying their respects at the memorial gathering later today in front of the Sheriff’s Office at 301 N. Church St.

🌟 Employee Spotlight – Welcome, Chad Blevins! 🌟

We’re excited to officially welcome Chad Blevins to the FC911 family!

Chad has been with us for six months and has truly hit the ground running as a telecommunicator. While he may be newer to the TC side of things, he’s no stranger to emergency services. He also serves as a firefighter with Rural Hall Fire Department, bringing dedication, experience, and a servant’s heart to our communications center every single shift.

Chad takes pride in being there for our community during stressful and critical moments — and it shows. When he’s off duty, you’ll probably find him camping, fishing, or spending quality time with his family.

We’re grateful to have him on our team. If you see Chad, be sure to give him a warm welcome! 👏🚨

On February 16, 1968, history was made in Haleyville, Alabama.

The very first 911 call in the United States was placed — a simple moment that changed everything about how we reach out in an emergency.

That first call set the stage for the 911 system we rely on today… including right here in Forsyth County. What started as a brand-new idea in a small Alabama town has grown into the fast, coordinated emergency response we count on every single day.

From rotary phones to advanced communications centers.
From one test call… to millions of life-saving responses.

It’s pretty amazing how one phone call helped shape the system that keeps our community safe.

Today, we honor the history.
We recognize the evolution.
And we remain committed to answering the call — every time. 📞🚨

‼️National Wireless Phone Outage‼️

While some national network carriers are experiencing voice and data issues, your phone will still reach 911 operations in the event of an emergency even in SOS mode. There is no need to test this capability.

Today we want to take a moment to thank the men and women who put on the badge every day and serve with courage, integrity, and heart.

Forsyth County Sheriffs Office, Winston Salem Police Department, Kernersville Police Department and the North Carolina Highway Patrol run toward danger when others run away. They work long hours, miss holidays, and face challenges most people never see — all to keep our communities safe. Their dedication, patience, and strength do not go unnoticed.

To every officer who serves with honor, who treats people with respect, and who shows up when it matters most — thank you. Your commitment makes a difference in more lives than you may ever know.

We are grateful for your service, your sacrifice, and your unwavering dedication to protecting our community.

💙🖤💙

Stay safe, and know that you are appreciated.
