The 1452nd Combat HET Transportation Company was established in 1999 headquartered in Winston-Salem with a Detachment in Durham. The unit operates the Heavy Equipment Transport (HET), which is designed to transport, deploy, recover and evacuate combat-loaded main battle tanks and other heavy tracked and wheeled vehicle to and from the battlefield. The unit has been on two combat deployments: Opera

tion Iraqi Freedom II 2004-2005 and Operation New Dawn 2011-2012. The unit also distinguished themselves as one of the last units to leave Iraq during the strategic withdrawal of military forces from Iraq in December 2011.
