City of Winston-Salem University (CWSU) applications open May 1, 2026! 🎓

Want to learn more about your city and what it can do for you? CWSU is an educational program designed to help residents gain a better understanding of your city government and the roles of its various departments. The once-a-year, 12-week course starts August 20, is free of charge, and meets once a week on Thursdays at 6 p.m.

Delayed opening: The Forsyth County courthouse will open tomorrow, February 6, 2026, at 9:30am. District civil and criminal courts will start at 10:30am. Superior criminal court will start at 10:30am.

Please check www.nccourts.gov/closings prior to departing for court to learn if there has been a change to the schedule.

The Forsyth County courthouse will OPEN tomorrow, Thursday, February 5, 2026, following our regular business day schedule. However, please stay alert for any update in the event overnight precipitation necessitates a change to our anticipated schedule.

You may visit www.nccourts.gov/closings tomorrow morning to learn if there will be a delayed opening or other change to our business hours.

(Read all) The Forsyth County courthouse will be closed Wednesday, February 4, 2026, due to hazardous road conditions.

We encourage filers to use our statewide online filing service, www.nccourts.gov/guideandfile or www.nccourts.gov/fileandserve, to submit documents to the courts. Guide and File is an interview-style questionnaire that helps prepare and file legal documents for a FEW specific case types. File and Serve allows filers to upload and submit prepared documents for any case type.

Alternate Filing Location:
The alternate filing location for the Clerk’s Office during this weather related closing is the Forsyth County Magistrate Office located at 201 N Church Street. You may drop off filings at this location between the hours of 8am and 5pm during any business day the courthouse remains closed during this weather event.

Court Dates:
Court dates for matters that were scheduled to be heard last week or any matters scheduled for any day the courthouse may be closed this week will be rescheduled by the appropriate courthouse agency as soon as the agency is able to do so.

For general court date information or to view any public court record, please use our statewide online court record service, www.nccourts.gov/portal .

Jury Duty:
When this courthouse closes for inclement weather, you are not required to report for jury duty and your service for that day is cancelled. Jurors who were summoned, but not seated for jury duty: your name may be returned to the juror pool database for a later jury duty date.

The Clerk's Office is able to answer calls remotely. If your call is not answered, we ask for your patience. Only a few clerks have remote phone service. Please note that when calling during this weather related closing, you must select a specific CSC division from the automated recorded greeting to reach a clerk. There will not be a phone receptionist to transfer your call to a specific division if one is not selected from the automated greeting.

Electronically Filed Documents:
Clerks have been working remotely since courts closed due to this inclement weather event to process documents submitted through our statewide online filing service. We will continue to work remotely during this weather event as long as the courthouse remains closed.
