Last night, Winsted Fire conducted training operations using a live burn container, providing firefighters with hands-on experience in controlling and managing burning environments for extended periods.

The annual fireman's banquet was attended by current and retired fire department members, with Rose Heimerl celebrating a milestone of 20 years with the Winsted Fire Department.

Members of the Winsted Fire and Silver Lake Fire departments conducted a controlled grass burn on Monday. Although inclement weather interfered with the operation, they successfully completed approximately 5 acres.

Starting on 3/28/2026 at 0600 hours, McLeod County will be under a burning ban until 8pm. No open burning will be allowed during this time. This does not include recreational fires. Weather conditions will be monitored, and restrictions may be extended if needed.
