It’s a beautiful day to host a field trip. We can’t wait to host the 2nd grade from WES today! We will be talking about Winslow history, learning to weave, making a ball and cup, learning about the life cycle of salmon and having a scavenger hunt. If you see hidden items in the park please do not disturb them!

🎓 Congratulations to the Class of 2026! 🎓
We would like to extend a special congratulations to Emily Daigneault and Shawna Martin on their graduation!
Emily has been a dedicated volunteer in many of our youth sports programs and will be returning for her second year as one of our beloved Summer Fun Camp Counselors.
Shawna has also generously volunteered in a variety of our sports programs and will be joining our Summer Fun Camp team this summer as a counselor.
We are incredibly proud of these outstanding young women and grateful for the positive impact they have made in our programs and community.
Congratulations, Emily and Shawna! We wish you both continued success, happiness, and all the best as you begin this exciting new chapter.

A huge thank you to our awesome Public Works Department for all the hard work happening around town!

As promised, crews are at Norton Street Playground this week finishing the landscaping around the play structures. Please be advised this is a multi-day project, but it should be completed just in time for the long weekend!

Justin and Roland are also getting started on painting projects at Fort Halifax Park, the watershed at KSB has been freshly repainted, we are back to being fully staffed for mowing operations, and picnic tables around town have been getting much-needed facelifts — just to name a few of the many projects underway.

We truly appreciate the dedication and pride our crews put into keeping our community looking its best. Now let’s hope Mother Nature keeps the sunny days coming so we can kick summer off on the right foot!

This past weekend, our Parks and Recreation community said goodbye to a truly great man. Mr. Nivison embodied what it means to be a Winslow Raider and a dedicated caretaker of our beautiful community.

I’m personally so grateful for Jack. When I first started in this department, my knowledge of turf maintenance, field lining, and Winslow’s history was minimal. With patience and generosity, he gave me a crash course in it all—watering, mowing, and the art of lining fields (something I still can’t quite match his skill at).

Any time I had a question about how or why something was done, Jack not only had the answer, but would often show up at my office the very same day with the information.

His legacy is still all around us. You can see it in the homemade sprinkler system he built in the track barn, and in the beautiful rock by the baseball field that bears his name.

Thank you, Jack, for everything you gave to Winslow—especially to our Parks and Recreation Department. You will be deeply missed.

John was born on September 30th, 1934 and passed away on April 9th, 2026 at the age of 91
