This past weekend, our Parks and Recreation community said goodbye to a truly great man. Mr. Nivison embodied what it means to be a Winslow Raider and a dedicated caretaker of our beautiful community.
I’m personally so grateful for Jack. When I first started in this department, my knowledge of turf maintenance, field lining, and Winslow’s history was minimal. With patience and generosity, he gave me a crash course in it all—watering, mowing, and the art of lining fields (something I still can’t quite match his skill at).
Any time I had a question about how or why something was done, Jack not only had the answer, but would often show up at my office the very same day with the information.
His legacy is still all around us. You can see it in the homemade sprinkler system he built in the track barn, and in the beautiful rock by the baseball field that bears his name.
Thank you, Jack, for everything you gave to Winslow—especially to our Parks and Recreation Department. You will be deeply missed.
