Winslow Police Department would like to remind you that the ongoing construction of Ticonic Bridge necessitated a longer term closure of the bridge effective today through June 29th.

We anticipate additional traffic on the Carter Memorial Bridge during this time, especially during peak travel times. We ask that you are patient and plan accordingly.

MaineDOT will be closing the Ticonic Bridge to all traffic from May 26th, 2026, at 12AM, through June 29th, 2026, at 6 AM.

During this closure, vehicle traffic will be detoured south to the Carter Memorial Bridge. Pedestrian traffic will be detoured north to the Two Cent Bridge.

On June 29th, the bridge will reopen to both eastbound and westbound vehicle traffic!

We appreciate your patience during this closure period.

Good afternoon, it has come to the attention of Winslow Police Department that some residents have received a scam phone call. This call shows as the "Town of Winslow" on caller ID. When the person answers, the caller then attempts to sell fraudulent security systems to residents.

If you receive this phone call, please hang up.

If you are like Chief Deputy Mitchell and received this Final Enforcement Notice requiring you to appear in the Cumberland County District Court tomorrow, IT IS A SCAM! DO NOT scan the QR code at the bottom. Notice Chief Deputy Mitchell's name does not appear on this Notice. The Clerk of the Cumberland County District Court is NOT R. Martinez. And, Me. Rev. Stat. tit 29-A Section 2601 pertains to the appointment and term of municipal officers, NOT traffic violations. Sheriff Lancaster

From Interim Chief Randy Wing,
On 04/13/26 at the Winslow Town Council meeting Lt. Brad Hubert and Officer Todd Burbank were presented with a Life Saving Award.

On March 14, 2026 at approximately 1528 hours, Lt. Hubert and Officer Burbank responded to the Garland Rd. after a 911 caller reported seeing a female laying on the ice on the Sebasticook River. The caller subsequently advised the 911 operator that the female was witnessed rolling into the water and disappearing under the ice.
Upon arrival, Lt. Hubert and Officer Burbank quickly assessed the situation and developed a plan to rescue the victim by climbing down the embankment and onto the ice attempting to locate her. She was located under the ice after the victim was overheard moaning nearby. Despite the risk to their own personal safety, Lt. Hubert and Officer Burbank broke through the ice, rescued the female from the water and handed her to Winslow Firefighters who were just arriving on shore. The victim was hypothermic and in serious condition when recovered. If not for their quick action and rescue efforts, the women most certainly would have perished.
The Winslow Police Department and Town of Winslow would like to commend both Lt. Hubert and Officer Burbank for their quick response and rescue of the victim despite the risk to their own personal safety. Congratulations on a job well done. The Winslow Police Department is fortunate to have such professional and dedicated team members.
