1804 Schoolhouse
The Friends of Fort Halifax members have always work hard to promote the Fort Halifax Blockhouse and surrounding Fort Halifax Park.
The Friends along with many others have also worked hard to promote and help with aspects of the 1804 Schoolhouse located on the Cushman Rd in Winslow.
The 1804 Schoolhouse served many functions during its existence, school, general store, morgue, lumber yard, and I am sure many others.
The 1804 Schoolhouse was renovated in 1988 when it was owned by the Winslow Historical Society.
The Town of Winslow now owns the schoolhouse and are in the process of replacing the roof. Replacement of the roof with a cedar like composite material will ensure the schoolhouse will last for over 50+ years and I am sure many more.
I would like to thank the Town of Winslow, for ensuring that this historic treasure will be enjoyed by many future generations. Kennebec Roofing of Winslow is replacing the roof.
I will keep you updated on the progress of the schoolhouse roof. To date the old roof has been removed and new facial boards have been installed.

Friends of Fort Halifax
The Friends of Fort Halifax have not posted for a while, but we have been very busy setting up events for Fort Halifax Park this summer. The Friends are in the process of scheduling events for the new stage at Fort Halifax Park in Winslow. The Friends are working with the newly formed Winslow Events Committee. At our meetings it was decided to try and introduce newcomers to the park by sponsoring entertainment to bring people to the park. So far, the Friends have scheduled the following acts.

1. Don Roy - Franco American singers
2. Fossils - Old time rock and roll.
3. Dunlap High Band - pipe and drum
4. Denny Breau - Country
5. Ross Greger Adams
6. Shank Painters
and others.

The Friends will sponsor most of the events but are in hope to have other bands scheduled with additional sponsorship help. The Friends and are in the process of securing sponsorship to help with these and additional events.
Thanks, and we will publish a schedule with events are finalized.

Thank you McCormack Building Supply
The "Friends of Fort Halifax" would like to thank everyone at "McCormack Building Supply" for donating and installing the tarp that is covering the "Bateau" at Fort Halifax Park for the winter. Over the years that I have been in Winslow there are countless incidents where McCormack's has donated or reduced prices to help out local organizations here in Winslow and the surrounding communities. McCormack's is a prime example of a "Hometown" business giving back to its community. Thanks Again from the "Friends of Fort Halifax"

HELP US CELEBRATE 2026
2026 is the 250 Anniversary of the American Revolution. With the new stage at Fort Halifax Park the Friends of Fort Halifax are looking to celebrate this summer by bringing musical, educational, and other events to the park.
I am looking for help by identifying entertainment events related to history. It does not have to be related to the American Revolution and can be other history related time periods.
We have currently booked two musical events this summer at the park. The Friends are able to pay for events so please help us identify groups to help us celebrate at Fort Halifax Park.
Let me know if anyone has any ideas. Feel free to reach out for opportunities and make contacts and get us in the loop to see if these are feasible opportunities for this coming summer. With all our help we can make this summer a truly great place to enjoy Fort Halifax Park.
Message me on Facebook with information.

The Friends of Fort Halifax and the Town of Winslow are in the process of finalizing our anchor signage that will be installed at Fort Halifax Park near the newly installed anchor. I have attached a picture of the sign. We hope to have the sign displayed soon (this week) to demonstrate the shipbuilding heritage in the Central Main area. The sign contains a lot of information so take a look and let us know how it looks and if can improve. There is going to be a change in the heading to include Winslow and surrounding towns. The bateau sign will also be displayed soon near the bateau. Take a read and let us know your thoughts.
