The Mississippi House of Representatives convened Wednesday for the final day of the 2026 Regular Session and adjourned sine die, marking the official conclusion of legislative business for the year.
During the day’s proceedings, lawmakers took action on several measures, including veto-related legislation and a House Concurrent Resolution.
The House voted to override the Governor’s veto of House Bill 1648, establishing the Gulf Coast Restoration Revolving Loan Program to support long-term restoration and infrastructure efforts along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. However, the Senate did not take action to override the veto, and the Governor’s veto remains in effect.
House Bill 1653, which revises certain projects funded through the Local Improvements Project Fund and the Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) Capital Improvements Fund, was read and its veto was referred to the House Appropriations A Committee.
The House voted to override the Governor’s partial veto of House Bill 1924, the appropriation bill for the Office of the Attorney General. The Senate also attempted to override the Governor’s veto; however, the motion failed. As a result, the Governor’s partial veto of House Bill 1924 remains in effect.
Additionally, the House adopted House Concurrent Resolution 65, authored by Representative Mims, which suspends deadlines for further consideration of House Bill 938 and extends repealers on several youth court statutes. The resolution was transmitted to the Senate, where the motion to suspend the deadline failed.
With the completion of these actions, the House formally adjourned sine die, concluding the 2026 Regular Session.

Thomas said Wednesday that values embraced by founders in the Declaration of Independence have "fallen out of favor," and urged Americans to stand up for their ideals and have courage.
