🔥💦 Meet W***y the Water Monster! 💦🔥

We’re excited to introduce the newest member of the Winona VFD family — Station 27 mascot - W***y, the Water Monster! 💙👨‍🚒

W***y is here to help us spread the word about fire safety & prevention, and the important work our firefighters do in our community. With a big smile, a little attitude, and plenty of water, W***y is ready to make fire safety fun for kids and families throughout our community!

You’ll be seeing W***y at community events, school programs, fire prevention activities, and other Winona VFD events. Watch for more W***y appearances here on our page 👋

💧 Stay safe. Stay smart. And remember — when it comes to fire safety, W***ys has you covered!

Smith County Emergency Services District 2 crews have worked more than one Wildland fire this morning. They are currently working on I-20 around MM 575EB extending several miles. One lane is shutdown starting at MM 574EB. Reports are coming in with fires igniting as far east as Liberty City.

Please watch for first responders working the scenes. We are NOT under a burn ban. However, please consider refraining from outdoor burning or disposing of flammable products in the grass.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Please be aware of the first responders working in this area. And PS: Today is NOT a good day for outdoor burning.

Saturday Training: Thank you to Fuller's Towing & Recovery for your hospitality today.
The crew worked on “jaws of life” skills. Techniques reviewed included door removal and trapped patient access, vehicle stabilization for crew and patient safety, use of cutters & spreaders.
Review for experienced responders and skill opportunities for new members is critical for emergency responses.
