Wrapping up this second annual National Home Visiting Week (April 20-24), we’re happy to highlight the role of the Southeast Minnesota Family Home Visiting Partnership in supporting families with young children in our region. Since its formation in 2018, more than 700 families have been supported with high-quality, evidence-based home visiting services, which can begin during pregnancy and continue until a child turns 2-3 years old.

As one family participant shared: “Our home visitor was so patient and understanding, always letting things move at a pace I was comfortable with. Her visits helped me feel supported through pregnancy, postpartum, child development, and even the tough moments. I’m incredibly thankful for the support!”

Thank you to the amazing home visitors supporting families throughout the southeast region of Minnesota…you make a difference!

If you live in a home that was built before 1978, it is more likely to have lead-based paint. Lead-based paint was banned in 1978, but it is still present in millions of homes, normally under layers of newer paint. If the paint starts to crack, peel or chip, it can create lead dust and become a hazard. Keep all painted surfaces in excellent shape and clean up dust often with a wet cloth. Learn more about lead and healthy homes at https://www.health.state.mn.us/communities/environment/lead/index.html
