We have so much going on that I completely forgot to post about our sale!!

Our sale will be on Saturday June 27, 2026!!!

Sale will be from 8am-4pm at 703 West Court St. Winnfield LA. This sale will help us provide vet care to the animals in need at the City of Winnfield Animal Shelter and animals in our community. We are in need of volunteers to help. Please share this post to get the word out!!!

After we made the post announcing that this stray dog we named Grace had puppies, we received a message from the sister of the owner. We were told the dogs originally name and that this would be her third litter. We were also told she had been missing for awhile and was an escape artist. Well we understand dogs will escape, but animals multiplying can be stopped by simply spaying and neutering them and we do offer discount assistance with that.

Now Grace’s owner has not reached out to us looking for her or asking about her since she was posted. Now this already overcrowded shelter, overwhelmed staff and myself have to provide what this mother and puppies need to survive.

Now we need our followers, supporters, animal lovers to donate and share this post. We ask if anyone is able to order some of the dry puppy food, can puppy food and puppy pads we would greatly appreciate it.

If your unable to donate we understand that as well please share this post and may be able to reach someone that can.

The food and puppy pads can be ordered online at Tractor Supply and put City of Winnfield Animal Shelter as the pickup person. The puppy pads are on sale until July 5th!!

If a donation is made over the phone please make sure to tell the clinic to put it under the spay/neuter account.

Saturday night we received a call of a malnourished dog tied to a tree at a residence. My staff went out and picked up this malnourished mother and 7 puppies. Luckily the puppies are in pretty good health. The mother is severely underweight and will be evaluated by the vet tomorrow. She was upset with us at first, but has now realized that we are here to help her. All seven puppies have been vaccinated and have started receiving a de-worming.

On June 1, 2026 we picked up 3 adult pit bulls. Their owner was was incarcerated and the family of the owner no longer wanted the responsibility of caring for the dogs. There were 2 females that were severely malnourished. Both of the females went to the vet and were both diagnosed with a horrible case of heartworms, one has a horrible old eye injury and malnourishment. We have been providing medical care and a nutritional diet to help them put on weight. Well one of the females named Riley, surprised us yesterday when she started giving birth to puppies. The poor mother has been through hell. She barely has teeth, highly heart worm positive and still underweight. I did find out that this is her 10th litter!!! Her eye was injured in a dog fight a long time ago, according to her owner and she never got vet care for it. This poor girl has been a breeding machine!! We are extremely worried if her body can survive raising another litter of babies. She is such a sweet girl. She will be going to the vet tomorrow for another check up by the vet. She will need donations to help cover her vet bill. With her teeth being in such horrible shape we will need to feed her can puppy food to help make sure she’s producing enough milk.

I would like to introduce everyone to this beautiful Catahoula Cur named Willamina. She is estimated to be born on November 9, 2024. She’s full grown and currently weighs 44lbs. Willamina loves playing with the other shelter dogs and gets along fine with our office cats.

She is currently updated on vaccinations, bordetella, dewormed, heartworm negative, on heartworm preventative & flea/tick preventative, spayed, microchipped and rabies vaccination.

ADOPTION FEE $115

Please remember all the responsibilities that come along with a new pet.
