🚒 A Great Opportunity for Fire Service Members and Our Community! 🚒

This would be a great opportunity for not only members of the fire service but also members of our community to come out, meet with vendors, and get an up-close look at the equipment and apparatus we use to protect our communities.

It’s also a great chance for the public to see firsthand just how much fire and rescue equipment costs and gain a better understanding of the financial investment required to keep our firefighters equipped and ready to respond.

From fire trucks to protective gear and specialized rescue equipment, the cost of providing emergency services continues to rise.

We encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity, ask questions, and learn more about the equipment and resources needed to keep our communities safe! 🚒🚑

Firefighters Inferno, Rescue and their friends never fail to put on a great educational show. They certainly feed off the big smiles. Many thanks to the students, teachers and staff at Town Creek Elementary for being so engaged.

Last week, members of Winnabow Volunteer Fire Department, along with staff from Tri-Beach Volunteer Fire Department (Holden Beach), traveled to Stanley County for specialized water rescue training at the NC Emergency Training Center.

This facility offers some truly unique and realistic training environments designed to challenge responders and prepare them for the unpredictable conditions they may face during an actual water rescue.

Our crews had the opportunity to train in and around:

🌊 Flooded streets and a simulated town/main street
⚠️ Low-head dam rescue scenarios
🚤 Motorized watercraft operations
🏠 Building entry through doors, windows, and roofs while navigating moving water

What makes this training so valuable is the realism. Responders can experience moving water, changing conditions, difficult access points, and other challenges in a controlled training environment—allowing them to build the knowledge, confidence, teamwork, and skills needed to operate safely when lives are on the line.

We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to the staff of the North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM) for sharing their time, knowledge, and experience with our crews.

💪 The conditions may be controlled in training, but the skills we build are very real.

We are proud to continue training, learning, and preparing for the calls we hope we never have to answer — but will be ready for if they come.

Train hard. Stay ready. Serve our communities. 🇺🇸🚒🌊
