Indiana American Water has issued an emergency alert for Winfield: Main Break Emergency Repairs/Boil Order Included

This is an urgent notification from Indiana American Water. Our crews are making emergency repairs due to a main break beginning at 9/03/2026 3:00pm in Winfield. If you reside in the affected area (see map below) you may experience a service interruption or low water pressure. Repairs are expected to take approximately 8 hours to complete.

When water is restored after the work has been completed, you will be under a Boil Water Advisory for 24 hours. Any water to be used for drinking or cooking should be brought to a rolling boil for 3 minutes. Water is OK for bathing, washing, and other common uses. Check the Indiana American Water website https://www.amwater.com/inaw/ to see when the boil order has been lifted.

The Town of Winfield, IN Police Department has partnered with Sounds of Sarah Inc to install an Opiod Rescue Kit in the front lobby of their station at 10688 Randolph Street.

WINFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT INSTALLS OPIOD RESCUE BOX

The Winfield Police Department has partnered with "Sounds of Sarah" to place an opioid rescue box containing free doses of Narcan (Naloxone) inside the first set of lobby doors at the Winfield Police Department located at 10688 Randolph Street, Winfield, Indiana.

The police station doors are open to the public 24 hours a day and anyone that may experience a need for a future opioid rescue, are welcome to take several rescue devices. The public is encouraged to visit www.SoundsofSarah.org to learn more about opioid related drug overdoses and various ways to seek assistance for help.

As our crews make their way around Town cleaning up the tree debris from the storm, we have noticed Callery Pear (also commonly known as Bradford Pear) trees have been notably affected. See below for a great resource for Callery Pear tree replacement in Lake County. If you choose to participate in this program, and are targeting a tree that is in the parkway (the space between the back of the curb and public sidewalk), please contact the Town Hall to check for suitability of species for that location. Questions can also be submitted to [email protected].

Did your ornamental pear tree suffer damage during recent storms? Did you know that not only are they prone to breakage, they are actually not great trees for wildlife like birds or local habitats?

For qualifying applicants, we have a cost share program that may help ease the financial burden of removing and replacing that tree with a native tree. Not only does it help YOU out, but you are helping your local environment become a little more stable by choosing a native replacement tree. Native trees provide better food sources and habitats for wildlife.

Please visit this link for full program details and a list of native trees https://lakeswcd.com/cost-share-program/

STORM RECOVERY UPDATE: With the unprecedented amount of storm damage and power outages in the Town of Winfield and throughout Lake County, here are a few reminders and updates for our residents and neighbors.

TREE BRANCH PICK UP: Our Public Works crew has been out dealing with storm clean up and branch pick up as best as they can since yesterday. They are starting in the worst hit areas first and will eventually get to all areas around town. There is no need to call or sign up for branch pick up during this time. PLEASE BE PATIENT!

WINFIELD BUSINESSES: Most of the Town of Winfield still has power, so many of our businesses are open, however they are doing their best to keep up with unusually high demand. PLEASE BE PATIENT! There is a business directory on our website if you want to check with individual places to see if they are open BEFORE heading to them https://www.winfield.in.gov/businesses

We will post any other updates on our page and website www.winfield.in.gov

Our mission was successful and another Movie in the Park is in the books! Thank you to all those who attended A MINECRAFT MOVIE last night at Randolph Street Park, Winfield, IN, and especially Councilman Jon Derwinski for Sponsoring the movie and bringing LOTS of free cotton candy and popsicles!
Before the start of the show, kids were able to enjoy free runs through the obstacle course, a photo op with Minecraft props, free back-to-school pencil pouches and building with magnetic blocks. They could also purchase toys from C&O Glow. Our food trucks were also awesome last night with Snowie NWI and Up in Smokers!
This concludes our summer Movies in the Park for 2026, but the fun continues with a few more events coming up this year. Check them out at winfield.in.gov/events
