Our next Beekeepers meeting will be held Thursday, Feb. 26th at 7:00pm at the Roanoke/Cashie River Center (112 W. Water St. Windsor). This year we are focusing our efforts on outreach in order to increase our members this is a great time to JOIN CASHIE BEEKEEPERS! The more we spread the joys of beekeeping, the more interest will follow hopefully helping expand our community so we can share and learn from our different experiences. Membership is only $5 for the whole year! (We're the cheapest beekeeping club around!)

At our Feb. meeting, John Marshall, Coastal Regional Director of NC State Beekeepers Assoc., will be talking about how to reduce the chances of swarming by splitting hives. He will talk about the different methods and the "how to" steps. He provides a wealth of knowledge and we are so thankful for his support!

You don't have to know anything about beekeeping, come join us!

Purple honey is a rarity and the only place experts say it's found is in the Sandhills of North Carolina. A beekeeper near Fayetteville recently found one of his hives producing the plum-colored honey.

Hi Everyone, just a reminder we will be meeting this Thursday, July 24, 2025 at the Roanoke Cashie River Center, Windsor, NC at 7 pm. The program this month will be testing the knowledge and then some of what we have learned so far this year. There will be some challenging topics as well as a good review of topics covering some of the basics. Come with questions about your bees, what you have been seeing in your hives. Share your experiences to allow others to learn. As always, bring a snack to share and an item for the raffle. See you Thursday.

Annual bee field day and potluck lunch on May 17, 2025 10am-2:30pm. The field day is an excellent opportunity to learn how to do an inspection of a beehive and how to identify any problems the hive may have and what can be done to address them. I would encourage all those that participated in our bee school this past February to attend. This is a good opportunity to learn and ask questions from more experienced beekeepers about things you may be seeing at the field day or in hives you manage. After we go through the hives we will have a potluck lunch. The bee club will provide ham and turkey for sandwiches with all the fixings and bread, condiments etc. Let me know if you have any questions. Directions to my house - address 248 NC HWY 305 Windsor If coming from Windsor, take HWY 13 North, a couple miles past Bertie High School HWY 305 goes off to the left. Take 305 (the road to Aulander) for one mile my house is on the right ... white farmhouse with columns in front and pecan trees in the yard. Park on the farm drive just before my property or my driveway. Bring a chair to sit on if you have an extra folding table that would be helpful too. Let me know if you have any questions.
