Recently, our detectives attended lunches at the Community Rec Center to share valuable information about scam prevention and fraud awareness.

Key takeaways:

🔹 Be cautious of requests for wire transfers, cryptocurrency payments, gift cards, or other unconventional payment methods.

🔹 Don't be afraid to question requests, hang up, or consult a trusted friend, family member, or professional if something feels suspicious.

🔹 Never send money or share personal information with unverified individuals or organizations.

If you have been the victim of a scam or want to discuss a situation, please call us at (970) 674-6400.

Preparedness starts with practice.

The Town of Windsor Office of Emergency Management recently facilitated a Water Systems Failure and Cyber Compromise Tabletop Exercise with team members from Public Works, Information Technology, and Communications.

Participants navigated a challenging scenario involving a compromised SCADA system and critically low water supply, working together to assess impacts, coordinate response efforts, and maintain essential services. These exercises strengthen our ability to respond to complex incidents and help keep our community resilient.

Building on this commitment to preparedness, our next exercise will be a full-scale emergency response exercise on June 17 at Severance Middle School and Severance High School. Conducted in partnership with the Town of Severance, Windsor Severance Fire Rescue, Weld County, UCHealth, Weld RE-4 School District, and other regional partners, the exercise will simulate a large-scale emergency scenario to test coordination, communication, and response capabilities across multiple agencies.

By training together, we strengthen our collective ability to protect and serve our communities when it matters most.

Last week, our Teen Police Academy was an incredible experience!

Students got a firsthand look at the many roles and responsibilities involved in modern law enforcement through hands-on activities, interactive demonstrations, and real-world scenarios. From processing mock crime scenes to exploring specialized units like SWAT, K-9, and Traffic, participants experienced the profession in a meaningful and engaging way.

By spending time with officers, asking questions, and learning about public service, students gained valuable insight into leadership, responsibility, and the positive impact they can make in their community.

We are proud of every student who participated, stepped outside their comfort zone, and embraced the experience with curiosity and enthusiasm. Thank you for making this year's academy such a success!
