On Friday, September 11, 2026, investigators with the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Division and Criminal Investigations Division served a search warrant at a home in Carrollton, Virginia, for suspected Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). During the search of the home, investigators discovered multiple files of CSAM on the owner’s computer. David R. McCain, 70 years old, was arrested on the scene.
Investigators charged McCain with 15 counts of:
§ 18.2-374.1:1 – Possession of Child Po*******hy (1st Offense)
§ 18.2-374.1:1 – Possession of Child Po*******hy (2nd Offense x14)
Investigators received a cyber tip submitted by Microsoft through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) indicating Child Sexual Abuse files had been uploaded to their platform. Following an investigation by our office, a search warrant was issued, and investigators were able to confirm the files and make the arrest.
Sheriff Clarke wishes to remind everyone that, as our youth have returned to school, parents and guardians are encouraged to stay vigilant about their children’s online activity. Monitor the apps they use, talk openly about internet safety, and remain alert to the risks of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and online exploitation.
Our office would like to thank our partners with the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children and The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
