Windsor, Birthplace of Vermont

Windsor, Birthplace of Vermont Windsor is the Birthplace of Vermont and home to innovation, creativity, culture, recreation, and excellent quality of life. Visit us here and in person.

It is a great place to visit, live and work! WINDSOR VERMONT… history, museums, gardens, splendid scenery, a covered bridge, a mountain, a mighty river, and pure Vermont charm make this hamlet a wonderfully classic ‘off the beaten path’ place to visit. Aside from being a quintessential New England settlement planted neatly along the banks of the beautiful Connecticut River in the valley of the same name, Windsor holds claim to fame as being the site of many firsts such as the drafting of the first Constitution in the colonies and believe it or not, interchangeable tools, something that one wouldn't normally recognize as being synonymous with the Green Mountain State. There are attractions that truly are unique in their own right such as the stately Cornish-Windsor Covered Bridge - the longest in America, and the unique Path of Life Garden. The air here is pure, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the surroundings will create a sense of solitude and will replenish one’s soul first-rate. President Woodrow Wilson was impressed and had his summer White House here from 1913-1915 across the river. Windsor Great Give-Away!
Saturday, September 26th from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

The Great Giveaway is back! Are you cleaning? Will you throw away items that are in good shape and could be useful to someone else, with a bit of cleaning or minor repair? Put them at the edge of your driveway or lawn on September 26th and offer them to someone who could use them. If they don't disappear, take them to one of the LISTEN thrift stores, The COVER Store, or any other local second-hand stores.
WHEN YOU THROW SOMETHING AWAY, WHERE IS "AWAY?"
Sign up by Monday, September 21st. We’ll add your address to a Google map that you can use on your phone or print out. https://forms.gle/5tW1bodTNGMpdHvy6
JOIN IN! THERE’S NOTHING TO LOSE (except the stuff you don't want). Please clean up your items by Sunday evening. Thanks. Please reference our website for updates, Windsor GGA, and email [email protected] with questions.

Windsor Public Library : Saturday, September 12th, 10AM: Tree Identification Walk at Windsor Fairgrounds
“I have learned so much on these walks and look forward to learning more.” – Frequent Tree Walk participant. Our local native trees are beautiful, diverse, and well worth knowing more about. Windsor naturalist and former Windsor Tree Warden Michael Metivier will lead us in identifying different tree species primarily by their bark, which, unlike leaves, can be viewed year-round. This will be a relaxed walk and conversation, going up and down hills. Be prepared to climb over and duck under trees. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes or hiking boots. We can walk in a gentle rain but will take a rain check for thunder and lightning. We will meet at the first entrance to the Windsor Fairgrounds (as you’re heading away from Windsor – across from Belknap Ave), 189 Ascutney St, Windsor. Please email [email protected] or call the library at 674-2556 to reserve your spot.
