PUBLIC NOTICE UPDATE ON WATER OUTAGE DURING WATER VALVE REPLACEMENT.

We are receiving reports that the water outage is more widespread than we anticipated. If you experience water loss or low water pressure you are advised to follow the Boil Water Advisory.

When water is restored the city will flush hydrants to clear lines and a notice will go out once it is complete. If you notice discolored water after flushing is complete, run your cold-water faucets until the water runs clear.

WATER SERVICE INTERRUPTION Water service to the affected area should be restored by 3 p.m. We will provide an update if the timeline changes.

Work will be completed as quickly as possible to minimize the duration of the outage.

BOIL WATER ADVISORY A boil advisory is in effect immediately upon the restoration of water service. This advisory will remain active until lab results confirm the water is safe for consumption, typically within 24 to 48 hours.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS Once water service returns, residents who experienced an outage or low pressure should follow these steps: • Boil all water vigorously for three minutes before using it for drinking or cooking. • Allow boiled water to cool sufficiently before use. • Disinfect dishes by soaking them for one minute in clean tap water mixed with one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon. • Dispose of all current ice cubes and only remake them using boiled or bottled water. • Continue boiling water for consumption until the official advisory is lifted. • Note: Water used for bathing does not need to be boiled. We appreciate your patience as we make these necessary infrastructure improvements. For more information, you can contact City Hall at 660-647-3512.
