After 26 years of dedicated service to the Town of Windsor as Fire Administrator, and a lifetime served on the Volunteer Fire Department, Paul Goldberg has officially retired!

You’ve truly been the go-to guy for everything—the person everyone could count on, the one with the answers, and the one who was always willing to lend a hand. Your knowledge, dedication, leadership, and commitment to the fire service and the Windsor community have made an incredible impact over the years.

Your presence, guidance, and friendship will be missed more than words can say. While you’ve certainly earned this next chapter, we’re going to miss having you around!

We thank you for 26 years of service, dedication, and everything you’ve done for the Town of Windsor.

Severe weather can lead to power outages, but using a generator incorrectly can be deadly. Always operate generators outside, at least 20 feet from your home, and follow the below tips. Keep your family safe by preventing carbon monoxide poisoning while staying prepared.

The Poquonock Elementary School playground received some fire damage today. No one was hurt but the playground will be closed until further notice per the school for safety.
The investigation is still ongoing.

We hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July! The biggest grilling holiday has passed, but grilling season is not over yet!
Before you fire up the grill again, take a few moments to make sure your setup is still safe.

🔥 Keep your grill at least 3 feet away from your home, deck railings, and anything that can burn.
🍔 Never leave a lit grill unattended.
🧯 Keep a fire extinguisher nearby and know how to use it.
👧 Keep children and pets at least 3 feet away from the grilling area.
ALWAYS leave coals and ashes in a metal can with a lid until they are cool!!!

A few simple precautions can help prevent fires and keep your family, friends, and neighbors safe all summer long. Have a safe and happy grilling season!

In Connecticut, if it explodes or leaves the ground — it’s illegal. Illegal fireworks cause house fires, brush fires, and serious injuries every year. Leave fireworks to licensed professionals.

Connecticut continues to see elevated brush fire conditions during dry weather. One spark from a grill, cigarette, or campfire can spread quickly. Always fully extinguish outdoor fires and never burn during windy conditions.

June and July are peak months for grill fires in Connecticut. Before your first cookout, check propane lines for leaks, remove grease buildup, and keep grills at least 10 feet from buildings and deck railings.
