June is Fatherhood Engagement Month, a time to celebrate fathers and the important role they play in helping children feel safe, loved, and supported.

This year, VDSS is partnering with Fatherhood Foundation of Virginia, Depaul Community Resources, and Local Departments of Social Services across Virginia to host regional events for fathers and their children. These events are free for fathers and their families.

Fathers can also join the celebration by participating in the Fatherhood Engagement Bingo game. Complete activities with your child throughout the month and check off each box as you go. Once you complete a bingo, bring your completed card to an in-person regional event to enter a raffle for a chance to win $250 and other fatherhood items.

June 27 9:00am - 4:00 p.m.
Children’s Museum of Virginia
221 High Street, Portsmouth, VA 23704

Dads who mention Fatherhood Foundation of Virginia or Virginia Department of Social Services will receive free admission for themselves and their families all day.

Route 460 35-mile yard sale this Saturday, 06/13, from 8:00am-6:00pm.

Get excited! The 35 Mile Yard Sale and Small Business Shop Hop is THIS Saturday. Lots of vendors again this year. The list is attached with all of the addresses. Multiple vendors will be setup at local businesses. Local businesses will have specials and sales.

We will have flyers printed this week that you can pick up.

Address for our parking lot:
Pickers Paradise
8273 Main Street, Ivor, Va 23866

Some helpful hints:
- Highway 460 is a very busy road. Please drive carefully. Be mindful of other drivers on the road. We all know what it is like to see a yard sale and want to pull over. Be safe. Drive to a safe location to turn around.
- Bring cash. These are just everyday people selling their goods.
- As usual we will have free water, drinks and ice pops for people that come in at Pickers Paradise in Ivor.

We want everyone to have a good time. Hope everyone finds treasures that day. This should be a fun day. Please make sure to share and spread the word.

Finally - a HUGE thank you to Peace Of The Past, Denise and Gayle for putting this together.

Poolside moments need a watchful eye.

As families head into the long weekend, remember that supervision is the strongest layer of protection. Children can slip into the water in seconds — even while sitting on the edge. Drowning is fast and silent.
