Farewell from Camille Uentillie, Miss Navajo Nation 2025-26

This year taught me that being Miss Navajo Nation is not simply about wearing a crown. It is about showing up, listening, learning, and serving with humility.

As I pass the crown forward, I do so with a full heart and immense gratitude. I am proud of the journey, grateful for everyone who supported me, and honored to have served our people.

To our newly crowned Miss Navajo Nation 2026–2027, Rochelle Francisco, I wish you a beautiful and meaningful reign. May you embrace every moment, every lesson, and every person you meet along the way.

My reign may be over, but the lessons and love I gained will remain with me forever.

Office of Miss Navajo Nation, Pageant Committee and Miss Navajo Nation 2025-26, Camille J Uentillie extends our biggest appreciation to our 74th Annual Miss Navajo Nation Pageant Sponsors.

Each year, Miss Navajo Nation serves a year-long dedication to the Navajo Nation and the people. Through her platform and plans for the year, she’s part of collaborations, attends events, talks to our people and more. Miss Navajo Nation upholds the responsibilities of inspiring our Navajo people. The Office of Miss Navajo Nation, Pageant Committee are very grateful to receive so much support for Miss Navajo Nation and our contestants each year. 

During this week’s pageant, we had various sponsors come forth to assist the Office of Miss Navajo Nation in gifting items to our contestants. Through this week, we had more business reach out to present items to contestants which we are overjoyed to hear and welcome. For that reason, we may not have their logos present but they have also had an opportunity to share their words of encouragement to each of our contestants.

Since Sunday, we have presented items to contestants and the current reigning Miss Navajo Nation. We appreciated each individual giving back to our office and to our three contestants. Without our sponsors, the success of the 74th Annual Miss Navajo Nation Pageant would not be possible without their help and generous donations.

September 9, 2026 – At 9:00 AM, the Traditional Knowledge Interviews commenced. Contestants were evaluated on their fluency in the Navajo language. This portion celebrated cultural heritage and linguistics.

At 1:00 PM , the competition shifted to focus on Traditional Skills and Talent. Contestants competed in the Traditional portion, which was conducted exclusively in the Navajo language. During this segment, each contestant highlighted their traditional skills and talents, emphasizing their deep connection to Navajo teachings and ways of life.

September 8th, 2026 - Business Interview and Contemporary Skill and Talent.

The day began at 9:00 AM with the Business Interview Category. This segment highlighted the contestants knowledge of leadership and civic engagement with the Navajo Nation.

At 1:00 PM, the contemporary skills and talents commenced. Each contestant showcased their unique skills and talents, demonstrating their ability to navigate and excel in the modern world.

September 7, 2026 – Part 2: Traditional Food Competition

In the afternoon, our pageant contestants showcased their culinary skills in the highly anticipated Traditional Food Competition.

All questions during this portion of the competition were asked in the Navajo language, and contestants were expected to respond in Navajo, highlighting the importance of cultural preservation and fluency.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our presenting sponsors: Navajo Nation Oil and Gas Company, Navajo Transitional Energy Company, Navajo Nation Museum, Navajo Tribal Utility Company and many more.

Special thanks to our dedicated volunteers, judges, Office of Miss Navajo Nation staff, and coordinators. Your support and commitment made this event possible and memorable for all involved.

September 7, 2026 – First Day of Competition at the 74th Annual Miss Navajo Nation Pageant- Part 1 Sheep Butchering Competition

Monday marked an incredible start to the pageant with the Sheep Butchering Competition. Each contestant proudly wore their sponsored sheep butchering outfit and apron, honoring tradition and showcasing cultural pride.

The competition consisted of five important categories: fire building, sheep butchering, intestine cleaning, meat cutting, and singeing of the head and legs. Contestants were judged on their skill, knowledge, and precision in each area demonstrating not only technical ability but also a deep respect for Navajo teachings.

All questions throughout the competition were asked in the Navajo language, with contestants encouraged to respond in Navajo first and then follow up in English. This highlighted the importance of preserving our language and passing down traditional knowledge to future generations.
