Yesterday, leaders from across Ohio gathered in Sunny Windham to wrestle with a question that matters: how do we build responsible AI into behavioral health, recovery, and workforce development without losing the human connection at the heart of it all?

The conversations happening in those rooms weren't about tech promises or silver bullets. They were about understanding. About listening across difference. About what it means to lead with dignity when the tools we use are changing.

We saw old partners in new light, heard ideas we haven't heard before, and left with something clearer: this work is too important to do in silos. The future of responsible AI in behavioral health, recovery, and workforce development isn't something that gets decided in one room by a few people. It's built in connection—the kind that happened yesterday.

If you were there, thank you for showing up as you are. If you're curious about what's next, we'd love to hear from you.

Leaders from across the state and country are gathering in sunny Windham today. Not to talk at us, but to learn with us.

The Hope Town Hall brings together high-level voices in recovery, AI, and community work to explore what's possible when we lead from understanding instead of fear. Over the coming hours and days, we'll be sharing what unfolds. The conversations. The thinking. The questions that matter.

Keep an eye on this feed. There's more to come.

Friendship, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to recovery make for meaningful conversations.

Today, Hope Town visited Matt and the Team Recovery leadership team to share how we’re using AI to support our operations—and explore what’s possible heading into 2027.

We discussed modernizing the workplace, using AI ethically and responsibly, and new opportunities to centralize and organize information so teams can spend less time navigating systems and more time serving people.

We’re learning from each other, sharing our experience, strength, and hope, and exploring where these conversations might lead. Grateful for the trust and the opportunity to imagine what’s next together.

🍂 Fall has arrived at Hope Town!

Today, my mom — a.k.a. “The Little General” — made the annual trip to Kuchta Farms to pick up our fall decorations. 🎃🌾

Over the next few days, they’ll make their way around our recovery houses and Hope Town headquarters.

It may seem like a small thing, but creating a place that feels like home matters. The changing seasons, decorating the house, pumpkins on the porch and the traditions most of us grew up with are part of normal life — and recovery should include plenty of normal life.

We want the people we serve to feel at home here, not like they’re living in a program.

Here’s to fall, traditions, community and making Hope Town feel a little more like home. 🍁

When partners show up, barriers get smaller. This week, the Lions Club brought new towels and a generous donation to support our Success Fund—removing one more obstacle for residents working toward stability and independence. These practical gifts matter because they free up resources for rent assistance, work tools, and those crucial documents that open doors. We're grateful for neighbors like the Lions Club who understand that recovery is built on community.

We're building Hope Town's future with people who believe automation and AI can serve our mission, not replace it.

We're hiring an Automations Coordinator—someone who's fluent in Claude Code, curious about AI, and committed to helping our teams work smarter. This role sits at the heart of what we do: turning day-to-day challenges into practical solutions, teaching staff and community members what AI can really do, and building systems that make our work stronger.

Whether you're designing workflows, training colleagues, or speaking at a conference about recovery-centered automation, you'll be doing work that has a direct impact on how Hope Town serves Ohio.

If you're someone who gets energized by solving problems and explaining technical ideas in plain language, we'd love to hear from you.

We're welcoming Grant Kirkwood as our new Operations Manager—and it's also a moment worth marking.

After a decade leading operations at the highest levels, Grant understands how to build systems that scale. But what sets this role apart is how we've designed it: Grant's work is centered on building AI-enabled infrastructure and automating responsibilities so our team can focus on what only humans can do. Ten years ago, Grant and Ted built an ecosystem together. Now they're back, bringing that proven partnership into Hope Town's forward culture.

Join us in welcoming Grant to the team.

Peer-led recovery means learning from people who've walked the path. That's exactly what happened when our team joined colleagues across the region for a day of connection and growth.
On August 30, Sam and Chrystal represented Hope Town at Pathways to Wellness, a regional symposium hosted at Kent State University. Conversations spanned mental health, substance use recovery, lived experience, and what it takes to support the whole person—not just one piece of the challenge. Speakers like Roosevelt McNield, Maria Jacobs, Derick Polk, and Kristi Horner shared wisdom grounded in real experience. These events remind us why collaboration matters: recovery happens in community, and community grows when we show up and listen to each other.
If you're curious about peer-led recovery or interested in connecting with others in the field, reach out—we're always glad to share what we're learning.

AI implementation is not about chasing the newest tool. It’s about building the foundation to create real, measurable value.

“You don’t get ROI from buying AI. You get ROI from building an organization that knows what to do with it. Strategy comes first.”
— Ted St. John

The next two years will separate organizations that simply use AI from those that are truly prepared to evolve with it.

Build the foundation before you automate.

Our Friday grillouts are back. And they're exactly what community looks like.
These afternoons bring staff and residents together around the grill, the table, and real conversation. It's one of those simple things that holds recovery housing together: time to connect, laugh, and belong without agenda. And we couldn't do it without people like Marcus, who shows up as our grill master every single week.
